CHAD/SUDAN : The other war of Darfur
The village of Dadjo located in Marena where primarily black ethnic Africans lived was attacked by the Janjawids and Chadian rebels on the 1st of April. There were over 400 deaths and 8,000 displaced people. The cause of the attack can be attributed to the strong presence of the Toro Boro militia in the villages. Initially, the Toro Boro were Sudanese rebels who found sympathizers with the black Chadian tribes located around the Darfur frontier. Here, women and children return to their village for the first time to try and salvage what they can. Marena, CHAD- 04/2007.
