A copy of the very first Superman comic book has sold for a stunning $2.34 million dollars / €2.13 million euros
The edition, published by DC comics in 1939 , was officially graded 7.0 out of 10.
It was sold by US based Heritage auctions.
A spokesman described it as “the finest unrestored copy we've ever offered.”
The character of Superman debuted in the first edition of DC’s Action Comics series in 1938.
But the US company quickly realised the immense potential of the Man of Steel, giving him his own title just over a year later.
Heritage, based in Dallas, Texas, said: “This marked the very first time a character who originated in the medium of comic books had a whole comic devoted solely to him.
“As such, Superman #1 heralded a new era in comics publishing, with other breakout characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, and Archie all gaining their own self-titled series in the months to follow.”

1957 American romance film starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, directed by Leo McCarey and filmed in CinemaScope and DeLuxe Color. It was distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film is considered one of the most romantic movies of all time, according to the American Film Institute.[4] The film was a remake of McCarey's 1939 film Love Affair, starring Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer.

1939 American western film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, and Ann Sheridan. Based on a story by Robert Buckner, the film is about a Texas cattle agent who witnesses the brutal lawlessness of Dodge City, Kansas and takes the job of sheriff to clean the town up. Filmed in early Technicolor, Dodge City was one of the highest-grossing films of the year. This was the 7th of 11 movies that de Havilland and Flynn appeared in together.
