Actress Elizabeth Debicki who plays Princess Diana in TV drama The Crown, has told how she worked on getting her accent just right.
She said she also believed the Princess of Wales gave lots of love to the world but doubts she ever got that love back.
Australian Debicki , 33, was on the Jimmy Fallon US talk show to discuss the final series on Netflix of The Crown, based on the happenings behind the scenes at the British Royal Family.
Fallon said to her :”Not only do you have her mannerisms down, but you have her dialect.
“Like the way she speaks. it’s very Diana.
“Did you did you work with a coach?”
He asked if there was a word or phrase that she said to herself to get back into character when needed as it is a well known movie trick.
Debicki replied:” Yes, there is. It’s something I actually worked really, really hard on it because it felt like a super important thing because it's such an iconic voice
“There's a sense of wanting to do it as best I can.
“And I was super disciplined. It's the only thing in my life I've ever been incredibly disciplined about, the dialect sessions I did.
“On The Crown we sort of learn from speeches that the real-life people gave.
“Because the dialects are almost over-enunciated in their speeches.
“So the speech that I learnt from was a speech that starts with the words, ‘In the past 12 years…”
