HRH The Prince of Denmark presents the first set of Colours (Ceremonial Regimental flags) to 4th Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment in a sacred ceremony at Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich, London, UK.
    22nd April, 2023.

Six years after its formation, 4th Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment will be presented with its first set of Colours.

The historic ceremony at Royal Artillery Barracks sees His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark present the silk Colours on behalf of the Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment, his mother Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

The traditional ceremony sees around 100 soldiers from the reservist unit on parade, led by their Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Steve Garmory to music provided by The Band of The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.

The new Colours are consecrated by the Chaplain General of the Army Reverend Michael Parker who is joined by the Regimental Chaplain Reverend Canon Roger Hall and the Battalion Padre Nick Sharpe.

The Colours were originally carried into battle so that soldiers could see where the rest of their unit was at all times. They are incredibly important to a unit as they represent the spirt of the regiment.

The new Colours have been handmade by expert craftsman using centuries old techniques. They are made from heavy silk which is richly embroidered with gold and silver thread depicting the Regiment’s battle honours and cap badge.Anti-monarchist Graham Smith, head of the Republic.org movement press briefing - Abolish the Monarchy. Not-so-Royal briefing with the arch-nemesis of the monarchy in Britain: Graham Smith, head of the Republic.org.uk movement and writer of the upcoming book Abolish the Monarchy.

The Republic.org website spells out the reasons why they don't want a monarchy:
"Hereditary public office goes against every democratic principle.

And because we can’t hold the King

The border point is now five miles from the frontline yet locals still feel in danger despite hopes Russian guns have been forced to retreat.

The crossing fell on the first day of Ukraine’s incursion, and videos released by Ukrainian sources showed a few dozen Russian border guards surrendering, overwhelmed by a surprise, mobile attack.
