April 10, 2018 - Munich, Bavaria, Germany - Continuing the Warnstreik (warning strike) in late March, the labor unions Verdi and GEW (Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft) have called for further strikes in Munich ahead of the next round of negotiations, along with a Großkundgebung (large rally) at the DGB-Haus in Munich. Some 35 buses of participants will be brought in from other regions in support. The parade was officially recognized as the longest in the history of Munich with “at least 8-9000†participants. Since the last rounds of talks, unions have not heard further from the side of the employers. The Kita workers are fighting for a 6% raise, with a 200 Euro per month minimum increase..The Munich sanitation department (Abfallwirtschaftsbetrieb München) is also participating, as is the Munich International Airport. Munich is still dealing with lingering issues caused by sanitation’s participation in the last strike and Lufthansa has already cancelled 240 flights (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)
