April 9, 2018 - Jerusalem, Israel - WALTER BINGHAM, 94, points to his father depicted in a photo shot in Poland during World War II, as he speaks of his wartime experiences ahead of Israel's Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day. Walter's father found his death in the Warsaw Ghetto. Bingham, Born Wolfgang Billig, recipient of the Guinness World Record for the oldest radio talk show host, was born and grew up in Germany as the Nazis were rising to power. As a child he witnessed Nazi book burnings and severe discrimination before escaping to England on the Kindertransport. Walter enlisted in the British army, was a driver in the British Royal Army Service Corps, took part in the invasion of Normandy and was transferred to Counter Intelligence where he interviewed Nazi Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop who denied all knowledge of the Holocaust. Bingham earned the British Military Medal for bravery in the field and was awarded the French Legion d’Honneur (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)
