Londoners in lockdown and how they feel.
Londoners in lockdown and how they feel.
Caitie, Carol and Andy Detheridge at home during lockdown in Muswell Hill North London
Initially Caitie and I were quite despondent and not dealing well with the new restrictions with Andy working his experiences were different. We now realise that we were missing structure and routine, now we have created this we can mange the changes and the flow of our family life. We are lucky to be surrounded by good neighbours and friends who provide a sense of calm and safety - and lots of humour!!

Kate has cerebral palsy and no speech. Despite this, she is busy, active and a very social person. “Being in lockdown, in a word is BORING. I want to get out there and communicate with everyone and anyone!
She is a director of two companies, The Unspoken Project, a theatre company that brings having communication impairments to the centre of the stage and AAC Camp that helps non speaking children and young people develop communication. Muswell Hill North London

The first patient walked through the doors of H R Breakspear Optometry in the 1880s. Now we close our doors, temporarily for the greater good.
Wishing this to be over soon, to resume the normal life we once had, busy, hectic and tiring at times, but nonetheless, rewarding and beautiful.
The only thing left to do now is marvel at the beauty outside, and daydream of when we can go back again safely to enjoy what we perhaps took for granted.

The Hallett family at home during lockdown in Bounds Green North London As a family we love to be out, so lockdown has been quite hard. We gave missed seeing friends and family and worry about mu Grandmother who is 97 and in a care home. Spending more time together; decorating, doing jigsaw puzzles, walking to an 800 year old tree and eating - has been the silver lining.

Tania, Nadia, Hannah, Iain, Lara and Maya McLaren at home during lockdown in Muswell Hill North London
Tania - very close to my family and can't see them at all. Also am really a country girl at heart and am craving being out of London.
Nadia - massively missing her school friends and hates having nothing to look forward to
Hannah - madly in love and can't be with her boyfriend. Spends most of her day on facetime with him.
Iain - has elderly parents in Scotland, one in a care home & can't get to see them. Quite enjoying working from home.
Lara - Missing her friends, going out in the evening and her driving lessons. She was almost ready to take her test.
Maya - Quite happy that GCSEs were cancelled. She's massively into the Drag scene and really misses out on the 3 - 4 shows a month she usually goes to.

So much family time is a shock. Sadly, we've missed big family events and can't see our dear grandparents. Good things have come out of it though including creativity, music, games, family TV and lots of time with the cat. The big thing is no football - playing or watching - but at least Liverpool won't win the league!

It’s really hard not being able to see family, our parents are too far away to help them. But day to day life is kind of working, just being at home together and our daily walks are really special.

The North Chinese leopard male called Jong in the outdoor enclosure at Liberec Zoo. These leopards live in northern China. As of today, only small and isolated populations remain. Only about 100 exist in captivity. The North-Chinese leopard was first described on the basis of a single tanned skin, which was fulvous above and pale beneath with large roundish, oblong black spots on the back and limbs, and small black spots on the head.

Insects are the largest group of animals on earth by far: about 926,400 different species have been described to date.
Estimates of the total number of species range from 2 million to 30 million; estimates of the total number of actual insects in the world usually end up round the 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 mark. For every one of us, there are around 1.5 billion insects. Insects are predominantly small, with details hidden from view, and given their ubiquitous nature, it is no surprise that insects are the subjects of many extreme macro photographs. There are 37 islands on the surface of Lake Tana, of which 20 harbor churches and monasteries of immense historical and cultural value. Because of their isolation, they were often used to store artistic treasures and religious relics throughout the country.

A huge Serb Orthodox church in Pristina, Kosovo, unfinished and derelict. During the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s Serbia aggressively tried to reclaim Kosovo, enticing ethnic Serbs to return to the land of their ancestors, building Serb Orthodox churches. This was a newly built large orthodox church in the very centre of Pristina. Once Serbia lost the fight for Kosovo, and Serbs mostly left, Kosovars left the unfinished church to rot. Destroying it would send an unwanted message to the world and finishing it would be pointless since there are practically no Serbs left in Kosovo outside several isolated enclaves, says Oleg
