China ’s military has shown off robot dogs helping soldiers with an amphibious landing.
It comes as tensions continue to rise over their neighbour Taiwan.
The dogs are armed and are shown working with drones in the recent drill.
A video of the exercise was aired by Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.
The exercise featured robotic units sprinting across obstacles and beach barricades to clear paths for advancing troops.
Supporting them were drones operated by specialised units, to strike enemy positions and provide cover fire during the simulated assault.
The drill begins with a simulated setback as amphibious armoured vehicles were struck by defensive artillery, blocking the advance route.
To maintain momentum, reconnaissance drones are deployed to survey enemy positions and coordinate follow-on assaults.
The robot dogs play multiple roles with some carried ammunition for troops, while others are fitted with explosives to clear beachhead obstacles.

CCTV motorist trap in a London suburb.
A motorist is caught on CCTV in a Low Traffic Neighbourhood in Streatham entering a short link road from a roundabout to another route without realising it is "No Entry" to motor vehicles. The scheme is controversial as there are no clear road surface markings to inform car drivers not to enter thus suggesting a CCTV motorist trap in order to make revenue for Lambeth council and TFL. Much of London's roads have become cluttered with multiple signage confusing the motorist.
Creating LTNs does mean that some people, including some who do not benefit from quieter streets, may have a longer journey when travelling out of the area. In general, streets will be blocked off in such a way that they will be forced to access the outside world via one main road. And therein lies the problem and an opportunity for a council to exploit motorists not familiar with the local area.
