It was a very cold sunrise, the coldest of the week so far. It was near zero degrees Fahrenheit. We came around the corner in our snow coach and saw this magnificent bison just sauntering down the road as if they owned the Park and they do! Keeping the required distance from him/her we hopped out, grabbed some photos, and quickly got back in the vehicle and watched as she/he walked about five feet right past us. It was as if we were not even there. It certainly added to the ghost-like event."The 26 finalists for this year's Weather Photographer of the Year have been announced and the public are being invited to vote for their favourite.The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), which celebrates its 170th birthday this year, in association with AccuWeather, has put the shortlisted pictures on their website and people can visit photocrowd.com/wpotyvote to vote until September 25.The popular competition, which is now in its fifth year, has attracted entries from around the world.

The picture shows Dam Wet by Andrew McCaren, 45 and taken in Wet Sleddale Dam, Shap, Cumbria, UK. He said: 'Whilst trying to visualise the heavy rainfall of March 2019 Wet Sleddale came to mind, I have driven past Wet Sleddale dam many times and seen it dry even after prolonged rainfall, but thought I would take a chance. After a 4:30am start and a 2 and a half hour drive from my home in Leeds to Cumbria, I made it to the location an remember shouting yes yes yes as I saw the water pouring down the spillway. The 26 finalists for this year's Weather Photographer of the Year have been announced and the public are being invited to vote for their favourite.The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), which celebrates its 170th birthday this year, in association with AccuWeather, has put the shortlisted pictures on their website and people can visit photocrowd.com/wpotyvote to vote until September 2.

Uraeus, the first outdoor public sculpture by artist Anselm Kiefer is seen at Rockefeller Square near Fifth Avenue in Manhattan in New York City on Wednesday, 02. The work is on display until July 22. The Ureaus, presented by Gagosian and organized by the Public Art Fund and Tishman Speyer, consists of a giant open book with eagle wings 30 feet long, made entirely of lead, on top of a 20-foot-high stainless steel column . Grouped around the base of the spine are even larger lead books, while a large snake coils the spine. Lead is one of the artist's preferred materials for its fluid and soft properties traditionally associated with alchemical transformation, especially its second stage: dissolution. A grandfather has taken his pet Reindeer Christmas shopping around London in his black Taxi.
Gordon Elliott, 74, stunned shoppers by pulling up at his local garden centre with three-year-old Prancer in the back of his cab.
The pensioner then led him to the nearby florist and even stopped off at a burger bar before heading home.
Mr Elliott, who regularly takes Prancer out and about on the bus and even to his local pub, said: "We get lots of people staring and he gets a lot of attention. I guess a reindeer wandering around the town centre and going shopping is a bit of a strange sight.
"He loves going out in the taxi. It's a bit of a squeeze, but he just jumps straight in. I then put him on a lead to take him down the high street and we often go to the burger bar or pub before coming home.
"Sometimes we even go into town on the bus. He loves people and is always well-behaved."
