A photographer has captured a series of striking images of Cuba's Wi-Fi 'Revolution'.

Photographer Valerio Berdini captured a series of images that show Cuban faces illuminated by mobile phone light, as many browse the internet on their mobile phone devices for the first time.

In June 2015 Cuban citizens gained access to Wi-Fi for the first time when Cuban government-owned telecommunication company, ETECSA, began installing 35 Wi-Fi hotspots in the parks of the main cities.

Until that date the web in Cuba was an affair limited to the guests of few luxury hotels and some official state offices.

Controversial British fashion designer, Jess Eaton is set to unveil her latest bizarre bridal designs, crafted from animal parts.

The Brighton based designer uses 'ethically sourced' materials - mainly roadkill - to create her pieces and makes it clear that no animals are ever harmed in the name of fashion.

Jess said: "I never, ever kill animals for our designs and we wouldn't accept anything that has been killed for the purpose of turning it into a fashion item. What I do is take these animals, once their natural lives are over and give them an endless afterlife."

Eaton caused a stir in December last year when she revealed her second high-fashion collection made from cat fur, alpaca, seagull and goose feathers - and even a human ribcage.

Now this unusual collection, which has been designed exclusively for White Gallery in London, will go on public display for the first time in May.

Jess uses white feathers and whole wings of birds to create extravagant headpieces, which are inspired by films, fairy stories and books from her childhood.

Eaton's second collection introduced domestic animals and human bones into fashion and gained the respect and attention of Love Magazine who styled the pieces on Kate Moss.

When discussing her White Gallery debut Jess said: "I can't wait to unveil the beautiful and dramatic designs I am creating for the show. My exhibit draws inspiration from a range of dark and dramatic romantics like Tim Burton and Scarlett O'Hara and I have a spectacular centrepiece planned as a big surprise for visitors."

Jess launched her first roadkill designs in 2011 and her second collection will headline this year's Brighton Fashion Week. Her earl...

Her earl...

The biggest swan round up in the UK
The biggest swan round up in the UK has just taken place early this morning(sat) at the Fleet nature Reserve in Dorset. (collective noun: a lamentation of swans or herd).

Some 500 wild swans were corralled and slowly driven to a landing point at The Abbotsbury Swannery at the end of the waterway that lies just inside Chesil Beach on the Jurassic coast. Hundreds of volunteers of all ages walked to nearly waist deep in order to help keep the swans moving in the right direction.

The giant birds at this time of year are mainly flightless due to them moulting their feathers so they can be very carefully encouraged up the shallow tidal water to a place where a team of handlers can examine, weigh and ring the birds.

    Yuck! The Things People Eat
One man has made it his mission to taste disgusting delicacies around the world.

Neil Setchfield's 'Yuck! The Things People Eat' project has seen him try unusual foods ranging from fried songbird in Cambodia to pigs brain in the Philippines.

The artfully photographed results of his brave culinary journey have been collected in a book of the same name.

Neil explains: "A couple of years ago I was walking through a market in Cambodia when I came across a stall selling stir fried tarantulas. I took some photographs but they didn't really convey the reality of what was a huge bucket piled high with a crispy gelatinous mass of cooked black spiders. So I bought some, as you do, not really sure whether to eat or to photograph. In the end I did both - the spiders tasted mainly of the spicy sauce they were cooked in - but when I looked at them in all their gory detail through the camera with a macro lens I just knew I had a interesting project.

"The reaction to the photographs was just as inspiring. Whilst everyone back in London went "YUCK!", when I showed them the pictures, in Cambodia the natural response was "YUM!". Whilst one nation was appalled the other was just peckish. And this became the entire premise of the project, how differing cultures react to different types of food.

"But the spiders were just the beginning and now three years later I've eaten and photographed everything from wild grey squirrel in the north of England to roast guinea pig in Peru, from sheep's penis and black scorpion kebabs in China to kangaroos tail in Australia. And that's just a fraction of the whole.

"What I've come to realise is that some people somewhere wil...

Reflected sunlight on king penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) breeding and nesting colonies on South Georgia Island, Southern Ocean. King penguins are rarely found below 60 degrees south, and almost never on the Antarctic Peninsula. The King Penguin is the second largest species of penguin at about 90 cm (3 ft) tall and weighing 11 to 16 kg (24 to 35 lb), second only to the Emperor Penguin. King penguins eat small fish, mainly lanternfish, and squid and rely less than most Southern Ocean predators on krill and other crustaceans. On foraging trips they repeatedly dive to over 100 meters (350 feet), often over 200 meters (700 feet). This is far deeper than other penguins, other than their closest relative, the larger Emperor penguin. King Penguins breed on the subantarctic islands at the northern reaches of Antarctica, as well as Tierra del Fuego, South Georgia, and other temperate islands of the region. The total population is estimated to be 2.23 million pairs and is increasing. The King Penguin was described in 1778 by English naturalist and illustrator John Frederick Miller, its generic name derived from the Ancient Greek a 'without' pteno- 'able to fly' or 'winged' and dytes/ 'diver'.Its specific epithet patagonicus derived from Patagonia.

OUT OF THE DUST - LIFE IN AFGHANISTAN

A powerful collection of images of everyday life in Afghanistan will be displayed for the first time in the UK in a new exhibition this summer.

'Out of the Dust - Life in Afghanistan' features images by Dutch photographer Hans Stakelbeek. The exhibition runs from 30 July-31 August 2008 at PM Gallery in west London.

In 2007 Hans Stakelbeek was commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to document the reconstruction of Afghanistan during the efforts to restore peace and stability to the country.

Stakelbeek made four trips last year, shooting in Kabul and Uruzgan, as well as other remote areas.

As the project developed, he also became interested in capturing the stories of the people he came to know, as well as the reconstruction efforts required by his official posting.

'Out of the Dust' presents a set of images that pays tribute to the determination of the Afghan people to survive and live as normally as possible through the upheaval - building homes, going to school and working and playing in testing and frightening times.

The collection gives a rare view of daily life in Afghanistan without a military slant and each photograph comes complete with Stakelbeek's own written commentary, which reveals the stories within.

The exhibition is an up-to-date presentation of current life and an opportunity to see how the country is changing, how the reconstruction is progressing and to witness the perseverance of ordinary people in an extraordinary situation.
