A stunning new concept superyacht is already a winning design — because it was inspired by the ultimate yachting competition.
The Plectrum is 74 meters long and is equipped with entending hydrofoils to propel it to a top speed of 70 knots / 130 km/h - unheard of for the class.
The hull shape takes its design cues from the sail boats competing in the prestigious Americas Cup which last took place in 2021.
The boats also use foils but to cut drag on the water while harnessing the wind.
The Plectrum moves and lifts above water surface pushed from three hydrogen powered motors each capable of 5000hp giving an incredible 15,000 hp in total.
The superyacht is the brainchild of Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini who has made a name for himself with spectacular, futuristic concepts
He said the Plectrum was conceived to be entirely composed of a carbon fibre composite making it strong but also super light.
The weight saving helps it achieve the incredible speed.

A stunning mega yacht is going back to the future with a design said to be inspired by ancient Roman architecture.Prodigium is a153 meter vessel with six floors. The main living area on the upper level was conceived as to resemble the shape of a shark. This section of the yacht is made of carbon fibre and aluminium and offers panoramic sea view. Two Roman columns are positioned at the sides of the main entrance in order to support the upper structure which is also where the main pool is set.A steel hull keeps the centre of gravity as low as possible improving sailing performances. The rear deck incorporates a private port/arena that can accommodate a secondary yacht up to 30 meters in length. It includes two cranes capable of lifting up to 40.000 kg.Prodigium can host up to 40 guests and all the rooms and other facilities are located at the lower level.
