Samsung Electronics Co. said that it has decided to dramatically lower the face value of its stocks, as it posted record highs in sales and operating profits in the fourth quarter on rising chip demand. Net profit came to 12.25 trillion won (US$11.4 billion) in the October-December period, compared with 7.08 trillion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
