SCHICKSALE - Nach schwerem Reitunfall und schwieriger Operation: Mutter dreier Kinder erinnert sich an den Tag als sie ihre Kinder wieder umarmen konnte

A mum will be celebrating the first anniversary of the best hug she has ever had next month
- when she wrapped her arms around her children for the first time after breaking her neck
in a terrifying riding accident.
Within seconds after falling from her horse and shattering a crucial vertebra which looked
like a crushed digestive biscuit Sarah Wilson, 35, went from working 10-hour days on her
family farm with her husband, Adam, 35, to being paralysed.
Enduring gruelling surgery and months of intensive rehabilitation much of it away from the
family home in Houghton Conquest, Bedfordshire her greatest goal was to cuddle Logan,
eight, Seth, six, and Isla, three, once more.
So, in January, 2020, she agreed to an eight-hour operation, grafting together two major
muscles on her left arm which had extremely limited movement finally celebrating her
longed-for embrace back at home after being discharged in early March.
She said: I really wanted to put both my arms around my kids and gi ve them a hug it
meant so much to me.
And I will never forget the moment when we finally hugged properly again.
Even if I dont improve any more, I know I can take part in their life now.
Super-fit before her fall, life changed forever for Sarah at lunchtime on Saturday, September
29, 2018, when she slipped from her horse Lorenzo, a dark bay sports horse, 18 hands or
almost two metres high.
She had been feeling disheartened, as the animal had been spooked by noise in the bushes,
thought to be a bird, the previous day and decided to take him out again, as her children
were with their grandparents and Adam was working in a nearby field.
But just 20 minutes in, Lorenzo was spooked ag

family farm with her husband, Adam, 35, to being paralysed.
But just 20 minutes in, Lorenzo was spooked again by another bird in the undergrowt
