Called the Securebook , it also has a transparent casing so it cannot be used to hide or conceal contraband or weapons.
However those prisoners with privileges can have the Securebook attached to separate docking stations that permit WiFi connectivity or attachment to a printer and other peripherals.
A spokesperson said: “This Securebook can be used confidently in a living unit without fear of hacking or abuse by residents.
“It is transparent for quick visual inspection by security staff and lacks all connectivity ports for easy management by IT staff."
The device costs $549 USD but the company is able to send worldwide.
