The Pembrokeshire Island of Grassholm is of vital importance to the gannets that swarm there each year to lay their eggs, but their visit throws up a whole host of dangers thanks to the estimated 18 tonnes of plastic waste that litters the island. Each year in October RSPB wardens travel to the island to free the score of birds who became entangled - sometimes fatally - in this rubbish. Wildlife photographer Drew Buckley accompanied a team of volunteers and researchers from Exeter University, along with RSPB wardens Greg and Lisa, on the most recent rescue mission and was shocked by what he saw. Grassholm serves as a breeding site for nearly 40,000 pairs gannets; it is the third largest Atlantic Gannet colony in the world and supports around 10 percent of the world population.

Cardboard Couture: Students Create Box Fresh Fashions
Talk about box fresh - these outfits are the latest in cardboard couture.
They are the work of students at Somerset's Strode College, who were given just a day and a half to creating the wacky costumes and present them on the catwalk.
As part of a project in their first week at college, the 16-18-year-olds worked in groups to come up with designs ranging from Rio carnival-influenced to a flowing outfit based on a peacock.
There are also quirky efforts with names including Roman Angel, Shakespearian Axeman and Trojan Fish.
Duncan Cameron, Strode College's Sculpture Teacher, said: "We always kick of the year with a project to warm up the students' creativity after the summer holidays and to get them working together.
"They've shown great design and construction skills and created some fantastic costumes using only recycled cardboard, brown tape, paper and string. We've had a great time working with them - watching their ideas develop and their confidence grow."
Students who worked on the cardboard costumes for the September 2012 show are studying Art and Design Level 3 Extended Diploma and Art and Design Foundation pre-degree Diploma.

Easy Fishing For Eagles On Sensational Skye
Cleanly snatching a fish from the water this white-tailed sea eagle demonstrates what a perfect predator it is.
Photographer Drew Buckley was fortunate to capture the rare sight of the majestic bird fishing off the Isle of Sky in Scotland.
White-tailed sea eagles became extinct in Britain in 1916 and the species disappeared from the wild for over 50 years.
It wasn't until 1975 that the first formal reintroduction was carried out, with a total of 140 birds returned to the wild over the course of 20 years.
These birds have gone on to establish a population of over 80 breeding pairs on the west coast of Scotland.
Despite this it is still rare to see the winged hunters showing off their fishing prowess.
Speaking about the sighting, which came about during a boat trip, Drew comments: "There's now forty pairs of theses stunning birds back in Britain, thanks to them been re-introduced.
"They really do live up to their nickname of 'flying barn doors'; a wingspan of eight feet really is intimidating when they're fishing in such close quarters.
"I can't say it was the easiest shoot I've ever done. Trying to stand upright on a small boat rocking about in the swell while holding a reasonably heavy 300mm lens and tracking a moving target at almost full frame wasn't ideal".
Currently the largest population of sea eagles in Europe can be found along the coast of Norway.
Known as "flying barn doors" due to their 8ft wing span, white-tailed sea eagles are the largest UK bird of prey.
Their diet is varied and includes fish, birds, carrion, and, occasionally, small mammals.
When hunting for fish, they like to watch from a suitable perch before swooping and snatching the fish from the surface of the water without getting wet.
