An Italian classic is about to hit the water.
The Jet Vespa sees the iconic scooter blended with a modern jet ski.
The brainchild of Rome-based Lazzarini Design Studio, it takes cues from the "legendary Vespa 50 special from the 60's".
Pierpaolo Lazzarin says the craft "will offer 39hp and 32 knts in less than two metres of water."
He explains: "While the vehicle is not running, to facilitate the accommodation/access of the passengers, a gimbal self balancing system keeps the jet vespa aligned with the water surface."
Lazzarini propose the water toy in two variants: equipped with an electric 39hp engine for $25,000; equipped with a 330cc 39hp twin stroke engine at $19,000.
Both electric variants will have an estimated three operating hours.
Pierpaolo says pre-orders are welcome with first deliveries expected by summer 2019.
Vespa is an Italian brand of scooter manufactured by Piaggio. The name means wasp in Italian. The Vespa has evolved from a single model motor scooter manufactured in 1946 by Piaggio & Co. S.p.A. of Pontedera, Italy to a full line of scooters and one of seven companies today owned by Piaggio.

Featuring: Nicknamed the "Hand of God, " this object is called a pulsar wind nebula. It's powered by the leftover, dense core of a star that blew up in a supernova explosion. The stellar corpse, called PSR B1509-58, or B1509 for short, is a pulsar: it rapidly spins around, seven times per second, firing out a particle wind into the material around it -- material that was ejected in the star's explosion.

The annual hair freezing contest is hotting up.
Canada's Takhini Hot Springs (current air temp around -15°c) is closing entries for its cool competition.
The attraction in Whitehorse, Yukon sees people from around the world enter the water of the hot springs, which are somewhere between a relaxing 36° and 42° Celsius.
They are then able to fashion their hair into rigid shapes as the water freezes it solid. These jaw-dropping images show contestants from previous years.
Manager Andrew Umbrich explains: "The purpose of the contest is to create the most creative frozen hairdos possible; you soak in the hot springs and allow the steam to accumulate on your head while the cold air freezes your hair. After the hair is frozen and molded (when possible), you take pictures. We collect all the pictures during the contest and in March the top three pictures are chosen. Winners are announced in mid to late March. Seeing as we cannot control the weather and it can be hard to predict cold snaps, we will accept any pictures taken during the winter when it gets cold enough."

The annual hair freezing contest is hotting up.
Canada's Takhini Hot Springs (current air temp around -15°c) is closing entries for its cool competition.
The attraction in Whitehorse, Yukon sees people from around the world enter the water of the hot springs, which are somewhere between a relaxing 36° and 42° Celsius.
They are then able to fashion their hair into rigid shapes as the water freezes it solid. These jaw-dropping images show contestants from previous years.
Manager Andrew Umbrich explains: "The purpose of the contest is to create the most creative frozen hairdos possible; you soak in the hot springs and allow the steam to accumulate on your head while the cold air freezes your hair. After the hair is frozen and molded (when possible), you take pictures. We collect all the pictures during the contest and in March the top three pictures are chosen. Winners are announced in mid to late March. Seeing as we cannot control the weather and it can be hard to predict cold snaps, we will accept any pictures taken during the winter when it gets cold enough."

Featuring: A large space rock bearing an eerie resemblance to a SKULL will fly past Earth after Halloween. Asteroid 2015 TB145 last safely flew by our planet at just under 1.3 lunar distances, or about 302, 000 miles (486, 000 kilometres), on 31 October, Halloween 2015. This year, 2018, the comet will be even farther from Earth, passing by at 24 million miles away on 11 November.

A £11.2m Bentley-furnished explorer superyacht has been launched.
Dynamiq’s 33m GLOBAL 330 yacht is designed for exploring all corners of the Earth, from iceberg seas to tropical waters.
A selling point of the Monaco-based boatbuilder’s vessel is that it can enter small bays and inlets where bigger yachts cannot.
Travelling in style is also a given with interiors by Bentley Home, a partnership between luxury car manufacturer Bentley and Club House Italia, the artisan furniture designer.
"Following up on client requests, we have been looking at the explorer market for quite a while and this year we decided to come into the game with something completely different for our more adventurous owners,” says Dynamiq founder and CEO Sergei Dobroserdov. “Instead of slow, steel-hulled explorers with the typical commercial styling, we drew on our forward-thinking approach to create a fast and modern series of vessels. We specifically designed the Global series to be below the 40m threshold to match a much broader type of client and their families. Moreover, thanks to their compact size they can truly explore, because only Dynamiq explorers are able to enter the small bays and inlets where bigger yachts can’t get near. Dynamiq is a rare shipyard that proposes high-end Dutch engineering with the highest quality construction in relatively small yachts at an affordable price.”
Designed with long-range travel in mind, the new series will be available in three versions of 30m, 33m and 40m, with the smallest model rated at 200 GT.
The Dynamiq G330 is a full-aluminium vessel with an extra wide beam of 8.5m and a draft of only 1.8m. Powered by twin MAN V8 1200 engines, she will have a top speed of 16 knots and very economical consumption of just 62 litres per hour at 10 knots. Take a look at the future according to Kanye West.
The outspoken rapper made headlines last week when he showed President Trump a prototype of the so-called iPlane 1, a replacement for the Presidential Air Force One.
In an extraordinary meeting in the Oval Office, West produced his phone and announced: "I brought a gift with me right here. This right here is the iPlane 1. It's a hydrogen-powered airplane and this is what our president should by flying in. And we’re gonna have Apple, an American company, work on this plane."
Although sounding like a project already in motion, the news came as a surprise to the actual designer of the concept, Detroit-based Shabtai Hirshberg.
“It completely caught me by surprise,” Hirshberg told the Verge.com. “A good surprise, I would say - it’s always nice to see your designs being thought well for.”
The design is actually called Aerocruiser and had been posted in 2015 as part of Hirshberg's master’s degree in the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, entitled "Redesign of a Commercial Aircraft for 2030".
Rather than being powered by hydrogen, the Aerocruiser utilises a design differing from the usual airplane "Pipe-and-Wings" formation to save jet fuel. Hirshberg explains: "My design reduces fuel costs by an estimated 30%, enables a significant extended range of destinations and landing terrains, shortens turnover time and provides improved passenger comfort and experience."
Hirshberg, whose previous designs have included a Lexus car custom body kit and a hot yoga set sportswear design, says he is working on a smaller version of the aircraft, although Apple is not involved just yet.
He says: "In school thay always told us to show them world class level work, well I tried. Now Im waiting to hear back from Apple."

A tiger at Paignton Zoo in Devon has had a root canal - performed by one very brave veterinary dentist.
The patient is Paignton Zoo’s 11-year-old male Sumatran tiger Fabi, who is over 2 metres long and weighs over 100 kilograms. A Sumatran tiger has 30 teeth, including four very long canines. Canine teeth are important for biting, tearing and eating meat, for jaw architecture and display. As the adult breeding male tiger, animal staff want to make sure he’s in the very best of health for the future.
The man going into the tiger’s den is veterinary dentist Matthew Oxford. Matthew, who treats his animal patients at a number of clinics in London and across the south coast, is one of only a handful of veterinary dentists in the UK. He is also one of the most experienced clinicians treating zoo animals.
Tigers can easily damage the tip of a tooth fighting, playing or chewing on hard objects such as bones. Root canal treatment is required when teeth are fractured, exposing the pulp, the soft sensitive tissue in the middle of the tooth. The procedure removes the bacteria and pulp from the chamber in the centre of the tooth and then fills the teeth with inert material.
The off show dens at the Paignton Zoo tiger enclosure are designed to allow this kind of veterinary care without having to transport the animal. Space is tight, however; essential people on hand include three vets, three vet nurses, two big cat keepers and senior animal staff.
Vets and keepers created a makeshift operating theatre in the largest tiger den the day before the procedure, making a surgery table out of hay bales and tarpaulin and moving in their anesthetic equipment. Matthew Oxford brings his own specialist surgical kit and hand-held radiographic apparatus. Everything is extremely well organised and no one trips over anything.

Photographer Wayne Tippetts has had a long fascination with Caymanas Park, Jamaica's only racetrack.
Having visited the Portmore facility on the Caribbean island since the 1980s, he decided to document the raceday rituals and vibrant silks worn by the jockeys.
The result is a fascinating photography project called 'Jamaica Racetrack Warriors'.
Having originally shot the track on black and white film, his move into street style photography meant the colourful clothes were ripe for focusing upon.
Wayne, who lives in London, explains: "I've had a long fascination with the Caymanas Park horse racing track in Portmore, Jamaica. These photos were taken between the years 2013-2016, and are the first digital shots I have taken at the track since I started the project, shooting with black and white film between the years 1986 and 2002.
"In 2008, I started a street fashion blog StreetStyleAesthetic.com, so when I resumed my photo project in 2013 it became apparent to me that the jockeys ‘colours’ and style of dress needed to be emphasised too.
"On big race days when the tannoy bugle blows, the atmosphere in the stadium is palpable, with noise levels hitting the roof. Jockey's names are shouted out by punters as they will them on to win one more race. The walls of the stadium are also adorned with posters of the jockeys, who are mostly revered and sometimes worshiped by the patrons and punters. The bets have fancy exotic names too, such as; Exacta, ‘Quinella’, ‘Trifecta’, ‘Rolling-Triple’, ‘Hi-Five’, ‘Sunrise-6’, ‘Twilight-6’, and the ‘Superfecta’, to name but a few.
"During race days competition between jockeys gets intense, leading to bans and fines for offences such as “intimidation and interference caused to scar” and“ungentlemanly conduct”, along with the weigh in, weigh out discrepancies.
