17 Year old girl shot in Tottenham, London, UK - 03 Apr 2018
Tanesha Melbourne, 17, who has been named locally as the teenager who died in her mother's arm after allegedly being caught in the crossfire of a gang war in Tottenham. She had just left her home when a car pulled up and someone fired a bullet which hit her in the chest at 9.35pm last night. She died in the street as he mum cradled her before paramedics arrived. A friend is reported to have said she was "just an innocent child caught up in this stupid postcode war." In a separate incident, a 16-year-old boy is fighting for life after being shot in the face minutes later two miles away in Walthamstow, east London. A 17-year-old boy was also stabbed and left critically injured. There have been 47 murder investigations in London so far this year, with a higher murder rate than in New York this February. Tanesha is pictured here in a photo posted in tribute to her on an "open" Facebook page.
