BANNED FROM TAKEAWAYS: ‘DO NOT SERVE DIBSY!’

Takeaways across Teesside are refusing to serve 40-stone Darren McClintock (Dibsy). His personal trainer Mike Hind has handed out posters asking fast-food chains not to serve him, in an effort to tackle the 27-year-old’s weight problem - which is so extreme, doctors fear might ultimately kill him. Has it worked? Dibsy and Mike join us on the sofa as we find out.

British photographer Tim Plowden lives in a wild corner of Singapore that is also called home by a family of smooth-coated otters. The photographer has been keeping track of the adorable animals throughout 2017 as they have successfully raised a clutch six cubs. Their territory stretches along several miles of coastline, a network of mangrove rivers as well as urbanised sections of river and parkland. And Tim isn't the only person to be enchanted by the furry family with many locals having also taken them to heart. Tim comments: ?The playfulness of the cubs is enchanting and I love how strong their family bonds are. They always look out for each other and if they are apart for any length of time they greet each other with such exuberance it makes you appreciate just how close their family ties really are".

Vincent the cat has been test-driving his new legs, which have been given to him by Iowa State Unviersity, America.

After being born with only two front legs, Vincent, aged 3, has lived a limited life.

He was adopted by owner Cindy Jones after she found him at an animal shelter when he was a kitten.

Thanks to new technology and design developments, Vincet now has a pair of alloy-titanium legs, that allow him to run and walk, like a normal cat.

The titanium-alloy legs are top-of-the-range, and were attached by vet Dr Mary Sarah Berg, who works in the Iowa State University Lloyd Veterinary Medical Centre.

In the photos, Vincent can be seen enjoying himself and strolling around the exam room.

International Polar Bear Day is celebrated every 27 February to raise awareness about the conservation status of the polar bear.

In honour of this occasion, wildlife guide, photographer and presenter Paul Goldstein has bought together his favourite images of the majestic predator.

Wimbledon-based Paul, who guides for Exodus, explains: "Polar bears are in danger of becoming an anachronism, a fading apex predator that suffers more and more as the sea ice melts earlier each year."

Highlights of over a decade of sightings include a mother and cubs sitting on an iceberg, an adult attempting to catch tasty birds on a cliff face and a little cub appearing to wave.

Yes, I'm Special: Gigantic Steller Sea Lion is Head and Shoulders Above The Rest
Some guys just think they are special - and this pumped-up steller seal lion certainly towers above the rest of his cousins.

The gigantic specimen was spotted amidst his diminutive sea lion pals at Moss Landing, California. Although, hilariously, one appears to be trying to ape his huge pal's pose.

Photographer Michael Yang says he has been making this his vacation home for the past several years.

He explains: "He visits for several weeks at a time and resting on the already crowded dock when he is not out hunting for prey.

"The much smaller California sea lions, which are here most of the year, give way when he wants to come onboard.

"The California sea lions are already a local tourist attraction having completely taken over the Visitor's Dock. The Steller sea lion draws even more people. Most people are amazed at how much bigger he is compared to the California sea lions. The dock is right off Highway 1 and only a couple of feet from the parking lot making the sea lions very accessible."

Shelbi Stoudt, Stranding and Data Manager at The Marine Mammal Center, says that the first time they encountered this Steller sea lion was in March of 2011. Since then, it has been coming back yearly for a couple of weeks at a time to rest with the California sea lions on the same dock.

Although this is within the normal range of the Steller sea lion (there is a breeding colony about 40 miles away at Año Nuevo Island), Stoudt explains that it is unusual behavior for a Steller sea lion to rest with a group of California sea lions. She assumes that this is a younger male animal as they tend to explore more, returning to the breeding...

    Rabbit's Refreshing Spruce Up
This adorable European rabbit demonstrates its dedicated grooming routine as it is spotted at the Minsmere RSPB Reserve in Suffolk.

Clearly determined to look its best, the well turned out mammal spent a large amount of time carefully cleaning its distinctive long ears.

Using its paws, it first cleaned one ear from root to tip before turning its attention to the other.

Rabbits keep themselves clean by washing regularly and grooming, using their teeth, tongue and claws.

Spotted: The Leopard That Thinks It's A Meerkat
A safari guide thought he was seeing things when he spotted a leopard acting like a meerkat.

The big cat in question had been carefully stalking a warthog when its prey disappeared into some particularly long grass.

In order to keeps its dinner in sight, every few minutes the leopard would balance expertly on its hind legs - doing an excellent meerkat impersonation - and peer over the grass.

The bizarre spectacle was caught on camera by 27-year-old Letsogile Kamogelo at Savuti Camp in the Linyanti Game Reserve, Botswana.

Mr Kamogelo, who works as a safari guide, said he had never heard of a leopard behaving in such a way.

He explained: "This leopard had spotted a warthog from a distance and stalked it for almost an hour.

"He kept a reasonable distance from his prey but he lost sight of the warthog when it went in to tall grass.

"That's when he stood on his hind legs to try and catch sight of it.

"He lifted himself up for at least 45 seconds to a minute at a time. I don't think he was comfortable holding the position for any longer.

"He was very careful whenever he stood up because he didn't want to fall on his back.

"This is a very unusual behaviour and I have never heard or read about it before.

"There is a lot of animal behaviour that has not been recorded and it is mostly influenced by the type of terrain.

"The animal has to respond to the changes within its environment and it may display unusual behaviour like this.

"I've had a great response to the picture. It surprises a lot of people - including those who have been guiding for many years."
