A ball-shaped robot equipped with artificial intelligence is set to be rolled out this summer.
The bright yellow bowling-ball sized Ballie by South Korean electronics giant Samsung is described as a companion six years after its prototype unveiling in 2019.
It roves around the home on a set of wheels
It is equipped with cloud-based Google Gemini AI in the cloud said to unlock a range of capabilities.
It can accept audio and voice inputs, gather visual data using its camera, and use sensors to understand what's happening around it.
Samsung says it can be used to check out the fit of an owner’s clothes, offer styling recommendations, and provide tips on improving well-being.
All this is done simply by speaking to it with natural language commands.
It can also adjust home lighting and set reminders.

Commuters were stopped in their tracks as they spotted a full size, folded London bus.
The single decker, which measures 6m by 6.2m appeared to have been folded upwards at 90-degree angle with is rear end nearly six metres off the ground.
The bus forms part of a public art project, specially commissioned by electronics giant Samsung to celebrate the release of the its new Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6.
The bus, created by British artist Caspar Philips, t includes a host of recycled materials from real London buses.
It was constructed to the accurate scale of a real single decker bus taking two months to design and build.
Additional public art installations include a folded bench, lamppost and telephone box, created by designer Jem Hughes.
The iconic domed telephone box was complete with a payphone and phone book, with the lamppost folding at nearly three metres tall.
The public will be able to see the art installations in and around London for themselves until 27th July 2024.

A new home help robot is set to come rolling in to homes this year — shaped like a ball.
The Ballie by Korean electronics company Samsung is designed to assist around the home and be of use even when the owners are away.
And it is also fitted with a projector than can be used for video calls
Ballie is a bowling-ball sized sphere with a LiDAR distance and object detection sensor and a 1080p projector.
The projector has two lenses and allows the robot to display movies, video calls and "greetings" on its surrounding surfaces.
In a promo video Ballie greets a user who returns to their home by projecting the word "Welcome," as well as displaying a conference call, workout video and the contents of a nearby PC, like a secondary screen.
In another scene it is shown responding to a text message from a female owner who is at work.
