As a result of the earthquake, at least 968 people lost their lives in different parts of Syria, and more than 2,403 were injured. Early Monday morning, a strong 7.7 earthquake, centered in the Pazarcik district, jolted Kahramanmaras and strongly shook several provinces, including Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Adana, Adiyaman, Malatya, Osmaniye, Hatay, and Kilis. Later, at 13.24 p.m. (1024GMT), a 7.6 magnitude quake centered in Kahramanmaras' Elbistan district struck the region. Bus-Skulptur des Kuenstlers Manaf Halbouni am Brandenburger Tor in Berlin. Die drei senkrecht aufgestellten Busse symbolisieren Barrikaden im syrischen Aleppo 2015 aus drei Bussen errichtet wurden, um sich vor Scharfschützen zu schuetzen. Die nun am Brandenburger Tor errichtete Installation stand zuvor vor der Frauenkirche in Dresden.

Von links: Die Intendantin des Maxim Gorki Theaters Shermin Langhoff, der Kuenstler Manaf Halbouni und der Berliner Kultur- und Europasenator Klaus Lederer, bei der Vorstellung der Bus-Skulptur des Kuenstlers Manaf Halbouni am Brandenburger Tor in Berlin.
