Special Military celebrations in London to mark the 76th birthday of His Majesty The King, Green Park, London, Great Britain
    14th November 2024

The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery fire a celebratory Royal Salutes at 12 noon marking The King’s birthday.

King Charles III was born in Buckingham Palace on 14th November 1948, during the reign of His Maternal Grandfather, King George VI. He was three when His Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, acceded the throne in 1952.

The soldiers, horses and Guns of The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery ride out from their forward mounting base to position their guns for the salute in The Green Park. The Gunners wear full dress uniform which includes gold braided jackets and busby hats. The guns are the Regiment’s colours and so are afforded due respect throughout the route.

Shortly before midday, 71 horses pulling six First World War era 13-pounder Field Guns will enter Green Park via Canada Gate, over the grass, will quickly place the guns into position for the Royal Salute beside the six pre-positioned ammunition boxes.  The guns are quickly detached, the horses escorted to a safe area, and, on the word of command, each of the six guns will fire blank artillery rounds at ten-second intervals until forty-one shots have been fired, each sending a puff of white smoke into the air. The guns will be fired in the direction of Wellington Arch
The horses and riders will then collect the guns and escort them back to barracks.
