A white shirt worn by actor Colin Firth for his iconic swimming scene in TV drama Pride and Prejudice is coming up for sale at auction.
Firth sent thousands of female hearts fluttering as Mr Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Jane Austin’s 19th Century novel when he emerged from a lake in the dripping shirt.
Darcy bumps into love interest Elizabeth Bennet, played by actress Jennifer Ehle , who is smitten with his clingy look in what has become a standout moment in the classic series.
The shirt is now for sale to raise funds for a charity which enables young people to visit the theatre free of charge.
The shirt was made by UK-based theatrical costume company Cosprop and is one of over 60 iconic costumes from film and TV, as worn by screen legends that will go under the hammer on March 5.
The sale, called Lights ,Camera ,Auction, is being organised by London-based Kerry Taylor Auctions.
