The Cinema Society and Calvin Klein Jeans present a screening of '21' film in New York, America - 26 Mar 2008
'21' screened last night 26th march at the IFC Center in New York , Jim Sturgess stars as Ben Campbell a brilliant M.I.T. student who, needing to pay school tuition fees is recruited to join a group of the school's most gifted students that heads to Vegas every weekend to turn the odds at blackjack in their favor. With unorthodox math professor and stats genius Micky Rosa (Kevin Spacey) leading the way, they've cracked the code. By counting cards and employing an intricate system of signals, the team can beat the casinos big time. Seduced by the money, the Vegas lifestyle, and by his smart and sexy teammate, Jill Taylor (Kate Bosworth), Ben begins to push the limits. Though counting cards isn't illegal, the stakes are high, and the challenge becomes not only keeping the numbers straight, but staying one step ahead of the casinos' menacing enforcer, Cole Williams (Laurence Fishburne).http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/21/

The Reddington family, who can't see Christmas but still love it more than any other, Norwich, Norfolk, Britain - Dec 2008

The Reddington family, who can't see Christmas but still love it more than any other, Norwich, Norfolk, Britain - Dec 2008
THE FAMILY WHO CAN'T SEE CHRISTMAS
Passers-by stop each Christmas to admire the riot of festive lights that smother the Reddington family's house and garden.
More colour filled displays sparkle from the living room window.
Even their dog Orla is celebrating with her own pair of reindeer ears.
But throughout the year Orla plays a vital role as the family's guide dog - because all of the Reddington's, bar one, are registered blind.
However, nothing stops them pulling out all the stops at Christmas.
Advent calendars line the mantle piece and the hall is awash with tinsel.
It is only daughter Katie, 12, who is able to see the decorations but she happily describes how pretty they look to her mum Bernie, 40, dad Marcus, 48, brother Chris, 15, and sister Abbie-Rose, 11.
Bernie says: "I suppose people will wonder why we go to so much trouble, but Christmas is Christmas and we get just as much pleasure putting decorations up as any sighted person would.
"Just because we're blind doesn't mean we have to be bah humbug about Christmas.
"In fact you could accuse us of going the other way, we love it. Plus Katie loves it and through her eyes we all get to enjoy it.
"We go a bit mad but it wouldn't be the same if we didn't. The neighbours do worry though when they see me...

Haydn Boxhall, who had half his brain removed to cure epilepsy, Isle of Wight, Britain - Jul 2009
THE BOY WITH ONLY HALF A BRAIN
This is the amazing little boy who only has half a brain.
When Haydn Boxhall started suffering up to 80 epileptic fits a day doctors told his devastated parents that his body couldn't take any more.
The only option was to carry out a risky operation to remove almost the entire left side of the youngster's brain.
The complicated procedure has proven to be a success and little Haydn is now seizure free and, according to doctors, there's no reason why he shouldn't go on to live a normal life.
Haydn's delighted mum Gaynor, 36, an administrator, says: "Haydn has done fantastically well.
"When the surgeons told us they were going to have to remove half of his brain it was a real shock because you don't imagine people can exist like that.
"But we didn't have any choice; doctors told us he would probably die because of the strain caused by having so many epileptic fits.
"He has made a remarkable recovery after the operation and is doing so well now. He can sit up on his own and is just starting to stand up too"
Haydn, who is now three-years-old, suffered his first epileptic fit at the age of just four months.
His parents, Gaynor and her husband Marcus, noticed his face twitching and the following morning he suffered a full-blown fit.
He was rushed to St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight where doctors managed to stop the seizure.
Five days later he was sent home but suffered another episode and was once again rushed back to hospital.
This time he was transferred to Southampton General Hospital because he had suffered two fits so close together.
