August 22, 2017- Phoenix, Arizona, United States: President Trump came to Phoenix to meet with supporters after heavy criticism of his remarks after the violence in Charlottesville last week. Many members of his own party urged the President to cancel the rally with his base supporters claiming it would only further divide the country. Both Arizona senators McCain and Flake stayed away as did Arizona Gov Ducey. Thousands of emotional anti Trump demonstrators showed up to voice their opposition to Trump outside of the Phoenix Convention Center but police managed to keep the two groups apart.
