Who Looks Good Naked? Bare Faced Beauties
Forget taking your clothes off, the true test of a celebrity's beauty is when the make-up comes off!
Not even the most glamorous celeb can spend their lives as though they lived on the red carpet. So when it comes to their downtime most starlets opt for a little bare faced chic. Getting back to basics, out goes the mascara and hairspray and in comes dishevelled hair and shiny faces. Despite the fact make-up hides a multitude of sins, these stripped bare babes are all embracing that au natural look.

A grandmother from Tenby in South West Wales is celebrating her return home after spending the last five years running around the world. Rosie Swale Pope left her home in October 2003 to set off on her marathon journey in order to raise awareness of prostate cancer after it claimed the life of her husband. She returned to a rapturous reception from residents in her home town as she made the final steps on her gruelling 20,000 mile trip. The 61-year-old hobbled into Tenby on crutches after being diagnosed with stress fractures, but that didn't stop her celebrating when she reached the sign that marked the entrance to the town. During her epic journey Rosie has braved freezing temperatures in the wastes of Siberia and Alaska, has been hit by a bus, suffered pneumonia and frostbite and had a breast cancer scare. Clasping a glass of champagne she saluted the crowd who gathered to welcome her home, commenting that she was "overwhelmed" by everyone (FOTO:DUKAS/REX)

AmphiCoach, a 50-seat aqua-bus that can drive from the road into the ocean, Malta - 27 Mar 2009
MEET THE WORLD'S FIRST AQUA-BUS
The world's first amphibious coach has been launched, allowing bus passengers to take to the waves.
The Amphicoach, which has seats for 50 passengers, is the brainchild of Scotsman George Smith.
The vehicle drives like a traditional coach until it reaches water, where its makers say it exhibits 'astonishing' sailing abilities.
Its hull is made from 6mm marine-grade aluminium and it is powered in the water by a jet-drive unit.
The coach's wheels are retracted into the hull to reduce drag and allow it to reach speeds of up to 8 knots.
According to its makers the coach come tour boat "can compete with any luxury standard road coach on the basis of performance, level of finish, passenger safety and comfort, ride comfort, stability and manoeuvrability.
"On the other hand its sailing capabilities are accepted by marine experts involved in the project as being astonishing.
"This feature consequently makes the vehicle suitable for extended water tours.
"The Amphicoach is able to operate day and night, in both fresh and salt water, which is highly unusual."
The coach is to be built under strict supervision by Lloyd's Register.
A spokesman added: "Due to the vehicle's superior stability and safety features the Amphicoach is a Modern Technological Wonder.
"We have reworked and reinvented the amphibious tourist vehicle as everyone knows it.
"A new vibrant industry will be created offering investors excellent returns for their money.
"Soon people will no longer be satisfied with just a city coach tour, they will want the complete package, a city coach tour with a water cruise built in."
It is understood that 12 vehicles are to be built each year with compani...

Endeavour Returns Safely to Earth - Mission STS-130
Darkness enshrouded space shuttle Endeavour as it touched down on Runway 15 at the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. After 14 days in space, Endeavour's 5.7-million-mile STS-130 mission was completed on orbit 217. During the STS-130 mission, the crew installed the Tranquility node, a module that provides additional room for crew members and many of the station's life support and environmental control systems. Attached to Tranquility is a cupola that provides a panoramic view of Earth, celestial objects and visiting spacecraft. The module was built in Turin, Italy, by Thales Alenia Space for the European Space Agency. With these improvements, the orbiting laboratory is approximately 90 percent complete. Blue tits cause litter argument after setting up home in a wall-mounted ashtray, Norwich, Norfolk, Britain - 13 May 2010
HOUSE PROUD BLUE TITS BENSON AND HEDGES SPARK LITTER ROW
Meet the pair of blue tits who unwittingly caused a flap between students and office workers after setting up home in an ashtray.
The smelly wall mounted metal butt bin might not seem like the ideal home, but for one pair of blue tits it's apparently tweet enough.
And after moving to the wall mounted ashtray the feathered duo managed to spark a littler argument between office staff and art students from a nearby University halls of residence.
When piles of cigarette butts started appearing on the floor beneath the metal ashtray the blame was placed squarely at the door of the nearby students.
Office manager Maria Plumb, of the Norwich based Norfolk Carers Help-line, even went to the University of East Anglia halls to complain and ask the students to dispose of their cigarette butts correctly.
But when it kept happening a closer inspection also revealed moss, feathers and bird poo on the floor beneath the box.
And when Maria peeked inside for a look she was met by two pairs of beady eyes staring back.
A family of blue tits had been removing the butts to create a comfy nest to hatch their eggs.
Staff immediately put up a sign to warn smokers not to use the ashtray.
The tits have now been dubbed Benson and Hedges by staff who watch their daily comings and goings as they search for food.
Maria explained: '"When the piles of butts kept appearing it was always over the weekends so I knew it wasn't the staff here making a mess.
"I went to the halls and complained because I have to admit I assumed it must be the art students.
"Now I must apologise as the mystery has been solved.
"We don't know if the eggs hav...

Silk production - from worm to catwalk, southern India - 2010
SILK PRODUCTION - FROM WORM TO CATWALK
For many silk - the Queen of all fabrics - spells luxury, elegance, class and comfort.
But for hundreds of thousands of people in India it is something much more mundane but infinitely important - a vital life line.
An estimated 700,000 people are involved in various sericulture (silk production) activities in India.
Half of all the silk produced in India comes from the region of Karnataka where a sub-tropical climate allows for year-round production.
In 2007-08 India exported more than GBP 400 million of raw silk, carpets and ready made garments.
In 2007 alone it produced 18,320 metric tonnes of raw silk, making it the second a largest silk producer in the world.
It is second only behind China, which produced 108,420 metric tonnes of raw silk in the same period.
While the difference is vast, India's contribution is even more impressive considering that much of its production is done using outdated tools or by hand.
Ultimately, however, poor technology and high production costs undermine the vital role played by sericulture in improving India's rural economy.
The Worm
The Silkworm Seed Production Centre in Mysore is run by Professor N.M. Biram Saheb.
He explains that the Indian government pioneered the provision of disease free lays of eggs as a way of improving yields without increasing start-up costs
The practice means that farmers are provided with a steady stream of healthy silkworm eggs.
It is deep in the seed production centre where the 'work' of creating these eggs takes place - in darkened rooms where moths are laid out on newspaper in racks of plastic trays.
Powerhouses of the silk industry they may be, but in reality they are pale weaklings whose only purpose is to mate...

Tern chick falls over trying to swallow a fish, New Jersey, America - 20 Jul 2010
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Jim Gilbert / Solent News / Rex Features ( 1210469a )
This tiny chick bit off more than he could chew after trying to swallow his enormous fish supper in one gulp.
The hungry baby Tern had waited patiently for his meal and, when it arrived, wasted no time in trying to gobble it up. But his eyes were too large for his little stomach and as he struggled to swallow the enormous bluefish he toppled over under its weight - It did however eventually finish it's meal.
Photographer Jim Gilbert snapped these incredible pictures in New Jersey, USA.

Big Fish Dinner Causes A Tern-Over
These wonderful pictures show a tiny tern chick biting off a bit more than it could chew after its mum presented it with a fish for its lunch.
The adult tern swooped in with a young bluefish in its beak to feed its four fluffy youngsters who were waiting on the sandy beach below in New Jersey, America.
The greediest of the brood got to the catch first and proceeded to cram the fish into its beak, oblivious of the fact that its meal was not all that smaller than its own body.
With eyes much bigger than its bird belly, the baby tern managed to squeeze the fish's head into its craw before realising that it wasn't going down much further without some serious effort.
At which point the cheeky chick promptly overbalanced and fell over.
Not to be deterred, it struggled about on its side as the fish gradually slid down its throat, leaving the chick feeling more than a little full.
Fortunately, mum was there to sit over her protectively as the long process of digestion took its course.

Male Osprey returns with a fish to mate and chicks in the nest
Osprey chicks ringed as part of conservation efforts, Scottish borders, Scotland - 26 Jun 2012
Forestry Commission Wildlife Officer Tony Lightley needed a real head for heights today after climbing up to a lofty Osprey nest in the Scottish borders. He also had to avoid sharp talons and beaks and beating wings in an effort to retrieve several young chicks so they could be ringed. The youngsters have to be ringed for conservation reasons and it will also help wildlife officers gain an insight into their movements once they have left the nest. Previous chicks that have been born and raised in the same location have already been seen distributed around the country. This year the nest is home to two chicks - who were the first to be born in Scotland this year when they hatched last month. The parents have been using the nest since 2004 and have raised 17 chicks between them.
