The world’s first robotic dental procedure on a human has been successfully completed.
It prepared a tooth for the fitting of a dental crown which is generally a two-hour procedure that dentists will normally split into two visits.
The robot was able to complete the task in around15 minutes.
The system involves artificial intelligence-driven 3D imaging software with a robotic arm designed to perform dental procedures.
The US developer Perceptive says the proprietary system aims to complete tasks such as crown placements in just 15 minutes, a major reduction from the current method that requires two office visits of at least one hour each.
And it “uses unparalleled speed and precision” according to the firm.
This milestone is said to mark a significant leap forward in dental care, integrating advanced imaging, artificial intelligence, and robotics to set a new standard of care in dentistry.
Perceptive’s AI system is able to diagnose and plan treatment.

How Tick Begg revolutionised braces and made 1920s Adelaide 'the orthodontic centre of the world'
South Australian PR Begg Museum honours the man who changed the way dentistry was done 'on a global scale'

Begg studied in Melbourne before training under the acclaimed US orthodontist Dr Edward Hartley Angle. He treated his first patient in Adelaide in 1926.

The SA History Hub describes Begg as faithfully following Angle's methods until 1928, when he "broke with established tradition and became the first orthodontist to extract selected teeth to correct dental crowding".

    Kibbutzim massacres, three weeks after
    EXCLUSIVE:
October 28, 2023 - Be'eri, Israel: 21 days after the fatal attack on Be'eri Kibbutz, where more than 100 Hamas terrorists entered the Kibbutz and brutally murdered at least 130 members of the Kibbutz. Several members of the Kibbutz were abducted by Hamas to Gaza. To this dentist's clinic in the Kibbutz injured members of the Kibbutz were evacuated. In the clinic were a young paramedic woman Amit Mann (22), a nurse and a doctor, who tried to treat the injured and save lives. The young paramdic texted her family and sent voice messages that were published, in which she describes to her family what's going on, with the injured and with the terrorists in the area. Amit was under siege for 6 hours, hoping to be rescued but was finally murdered. Starting early in the morning of October 7th, missiles were shot to Israel from Gaza while Hamas terrorists invaded Israeli settlements around Gaza, murdering and kidnapping hundreds, including hundreds of young participants at the outdoor party Nova. Casualties count thus far is more than 1,400, injured - more than 3,800, abducted - 229 soldiers and civilians, missing more than 100 people. (Ziv Koren/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)

A dentist has amassed the world’s largest collection — of toothpaste tubes.

Val Kolpakov ,57, from Georgia, USA, has 2,037 different tubes from all over the world, including items from Japan, Korea, China, India and Russia.

And it has earned him recognition from Guinness World Records.

He began the collection in 2001 to learn more about all available toothpastes on the market for his job.

But he said he soon discovered it could be a very interesting hobby and tried to collect some old toothpastes and tubes from other countries.

He estimates the value of his collection to be over $30,000 USD / €28.000 euros.

Part of it is on display at his dental practice which has been turned into a mini museum showing off some of the collection on shelves and in cabinets.

The remainder is stored at his home.
