An unexploded ordnance sticks out of the ground as Eco-Park employees chase after a llama to be rescued and brought to the town Poltava for safety after Russians shelled the area, killing dozens of animals outside of Kharkiv, Ukraine on Monday, May 2, 2022. Russia fired incendiary rockets into Ukraine's second-largest city on Wednesday -- which ignited a large fire in a civilian neighborhood of Kharkiv -- after ramping up missile attacks across the battle-scarred country.

Highland cow sticks out its tongue as it approaches the photographer as he shoots a landscape sunrise picture
Cows take a liking to photographer's equipment, Malham Moor, North Yorkshire, Britain - 07 May 2016
    FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/sbl6

A landscape photographer had to MOO-ve it when a couple of inquisitive Highland cattle took a liking to his equipment.

David Zdanowicz was up early to capture the sunrise over Malham Moor in North Yorkshire on Saturday (7 May).

However, the long-horned livestock were seemingly intrigued to get a closer look at what was going on.

David was on the moor at around 6:30am when he had the encounter with the cattle with distinctive long wavy coats.

He explains: "I was taking pictures of the sunrise on the Malham Moors when some huge cows came over the hill. I started taking a few shots of them as they were quite a distance away.

"The next thing I know they start running towards me so I jumped over a wall leaving my bag and tripod behind.

"They took a liking to the equipment and didn't move for thirty minutes. I am definitely sticking to landscapes from now on."

Mutka the Great Dane pulls a funny facial expression and sticks out his long tongue
Photographer shoots her dogs' funny facial expressions, Finland - Feb 2016
A photographer has captured the hilarious expressions of her beloved pet dog.

Krista Aalto, 29, from Finland, decided to document the facial contortions of her Great Dane Mutka.

The result is a side-splitting gallery of jiggling jowls, gurning, wide-open mouths - and an absolutely HUGE tongue.

Krista explains: "I have a passion for photography so I consider myself lucky to own such photogenic dogs.

"Both of the dogs are purebred Great Danes, Mutka, a blue eyed harlequin, is one-and-a-year old and his half sister Luna, a merle girl, is a few months younger.

"Ever since I brought Mutka home, he has been making his funny faces.

"Mutka is a very characterful dog and I began to receive a lot of comments about his funny facial expressions, so that gave me an idea to start capturing these expressions.

"He is always in a good mood! Luna is his calm and quiet counterpart."

Cutest creature in the World alert!

This unusual African sengi is one of two making its debut at Chester Zoo.

The tiny newcomer, also known as a round eared elephant-shrew, was born at the zoo for the very first time during the summer in a special behind-the-scenes breeding facility.

    VIDEO (for licencing): https://vimeo.com/144873167
    YOUTUBE: https://youtu.be/nrjPPHIgi0k

Now three-months-old and fully grown, the duo are the first of their kind to ever go on show to visitors at Chester.

Bizarrely, the tiny creatures are not thought to be directly linked to their shrew cousins in other parts of the world and are more closely related to elephants, and are amongst very few mammals that naturally pair up for life.

An artist has created a series of eye-catching drawings, combined with everyday objects.

Prague-based Kristián Mensa, 17, focuses on creative work with everyday objects that are often overlooked.

In the pictures a screw can be seen instead of a trumpet and a series of bolts have been used to represent bar stools.

Meanwhile, a flower has been used to replace the body of a grammarphone and a flower has also been used to replace the head, and beak, of a hummingbird.

Pieces of kit-kat have been used for piano keys, and pasta has been used to represent honey pots and ship chimneys.

A cheeky bear cub seemed to react to having its picture taken - by sticking out its tongue.

Wildlife photographer Mircea Costina admits he chuckled to himself when he captured the cute American bear cub on camera.

He explains: "I was shooting at Parc Omega in Quebec, when I started to photograph these super cute teddy bears.

"They were very small and very playful and it was amazing to watch them playing together, climbing trees and rolling on the ground.

"When one of them seemed to look at me and it poked out its tongue it was almost as if did it on purpose."

Parc Omega is a safari park consisting of a twelve-kilometre nature route with lakes, meadows, small valleys, forests, and rocky hills.

Mircea says: "In this park exist two females with cubs which live in semi captivity. They have a big territory with forest and prairies, but they are controlled by a fence."

Flipping Frog On The Menu For Hungry Heron

Kermit would do well to avoid this particular swamp.

One frog found it wasn't easy being green when a heron not only selected it for lunch, but subjected it to some controlled flipping - prior to swallowing it whole.

But not before giving the heron a raspberry by sticking its tongue out.

Photographer Nate Chappell captured the scene at Kitty Hollow County Park in Missouri City, Texas.

He explains: "Each evening for a spell a group of yellow-crowned night herons would fly in to feed on frogs and bugs in the swampy grass there.

"These images show a night heron which has caught a good sized frog.

"The heron had to flip the frog in the air several times in order to get it in right position to go down the hatch.

"Finally it was able to swallow the frog and you can clearly see the tongue of the frog sticking out as it awaits its fate.

"The night heron was preoccupied with eating his catch so it allowed me a close approach for some nice photographs."
