Ed Sheeran’s painting journey began in 2019 after his record-breaking Divide Tour ended. Utilising his spare time to create original artworks, in 2020, he used one of his early creations as the official artwork for his single ‘Afterglow’. Skip forward to 2025, the Cosmic Carpark Paintings release offers the public their first chance of collecting his original artworks and edition prints. Inspired by celestial patterns, and in-keeping with his well-documented, expressionist splash painting style, Sheeran painted his debut collection in a disused carpark in London last year in-between the international leg of his Mathematics Tour.

Arianespace's Ariane 5 rocket launches with NASA's James Webb Space Telescope onboard, on Saturday, December 25, 2021, from the ELA-3 Launch Zone of Europe's Spaceport at the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana. The James Webb Space Telescope (sometimes called JWST or Webb) is a large infrared telescope with a 21.3 foot (6.5 meters) primary mirror. The observatory will study every phase of cosmic history-from within our solar system to the most distant observable galaxies in the early universe. NASA

NASA

(Crop) Protostar IRAS 20324 4057 resembles a Cosmic Caterpillar
    NASA's Hubble Sees a Cosmic Caterpillar - 29 Aug 2013
Hubble has seen what appears to be a very hungry caterpillar.

In fact, this stunning image is of a light-year-long knot of caterpillar-shaped interstellar gas and dust called IRAS 20324 4057.

Harsh winds from extremely bright stars are blasting ultraviolet radiation at this "wanna-be" star - or protostar - and sculpting the gas and dust into its long shape. The protostar is in a very early evolutionary stage.

The culprits are 65 of the hottest, brightest known stars, classified as O-type stars, located 15 light-years away from the knot, towards the right edge of the image. These stars, along with 500 less bright, but still highly luminous B-type stars make up what is called the Cygnus OB2 association. Collectively, the association is thought to have a mass more than 30,000 times that of our sun.

The image is a composite of Hubble data and ground-based hydrogen data from the Isaac Newton Telescope. The object lies 4,500 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus.
