What it’s like to have your first queer relationship later in life.
A divorced single mum, Rebecca Cox never expected to fall in love with a woman - but it's the intrusive and ignorant questions about her choice she's found most shocking.
I met my ex-husband as a teenager. We got married in our late twenties, had a baby and then got divorced. Now I have a girlfriend. Admittedly, being a divorced single mum in a queer relationship was not exactly how I pictured my life as I approached my 36th birthday, but there is nothing about how my life is shaping up that feels particularly shocking to me. But, from the various responses to my relationship that I have received over the last year, it is clear that to some, it is.
While I love the 'late life lesbian' trope, I am actually bisexual. And, this is not the first time I have felt compelled to explain my sexual preferences since I got a girlfriend, and it will not be the last.

'I was extinguished by men in suits' Darren Hayes on surviving homophobia - and finding happiness.
Darren Hayes's new album, titled Homosexual, is his first in 10 years. Reflecting on his Savage Garden days when he wasn't public about his sexuality, he says: 'The entire time that I was famous, all this energy and all this love was being received by an avatar.'
Watching the rise of younger gay pop stars, the 50-year-old former Savage Garden singer felt grief for the youth he never had. He speaks about coming out, his mental health struggles and returning to music.
