ANIMALS DO THE FUNNIEST THINGS - 2008

Feeling gggrrreeeaaattt: 14 week old Mirali keeps an eye of the tiger on the mysterious intruders in her cage.

I got up here so surely there must be a way down again!?

Say hello to the hottest new dance in town - the Madagascar monkey walk.

Hamish was a little concerned by the gawping face he encountered underwater Ö then he realised it was just his owner.

Law of the jungle gym 101: always stretch after a spell on the monkey bars.

After a ruff day there's nothing Blue likes better than a few pints and a game of pool down his local.

Hhhhmmmmmm it would seem that someone was telling porkies about just how to make bacon.

Better, stronger, faster: Dougal the bionic canine proves nothing can keep a good dog down.

With studied nonchalance feline Jerry soon becomes the cat that has not only got the cream, but the mouse too.

With rising shopping prices driving up the price of a tin of whiskers desperate action was called for.

What a real ray of sunshine.

The giraffe drive-thru was proving to be a resounding success.

After the popularity of soap on a rope, manufacturers were unable to work out why their latest product had proven to be such a dud.

He knew it was going to extremes but Twiggy really didn't want his nuts to be found.

Now all he needed was someone to seal away with him.

In a real feat of doggy dare doing concerted efforts are made to beat the canine land speed record.

Cursing those global warming causing humans, polar bears have been left scrabbling for any flotation device they can find after the last of the ice has melted.

Jack the all star primate loves nothing better than hanging 10.

It may have taken years but the peeping Tom had finally trained his pet crow to perfection.

The infamous 2006 picture of a man discovered sewn into the upholstery of a van seat to get across Mexican/US border
Bizarre border busts by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, America - Jun 2010
With Donald Trump edging closer to the White House, the building of a wall spanning the 1,933 mile land border between Mexico and America could become reality.

Despite existing borders, there have been numerous novel attempts at illegally entering America. This gallery highlights some of the inventive, and often desperate, attempts halted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

They range from the heart-breaking discovery last month (June) of children being smuggled in hot car trunks to December's interception of a fake, but convincing, border patrol vehicle packed with immigrants.

Other attempts include a Jeep Cherokee balanced precariously atop the border fence border fence and the infamous sight of a man sewn into a car seat.

    Passenger rests during airport delays
The Luggage That Turns Into A Couch
THE LUGGAGE THAT TURNS INTO A COUCH

Flight delayed five hours, all departure lounge seats taken, it's a nightmare many people have to endure.

But hanging around the airport might get a little easier thanks to a luggage set that transforms into a COUCH.

The suitcase collection is composed of three attractive suitcases and one backpack.

But when slotted together they become a trendy sofa on which to while away transport delays.

Dutch designer Erik De Nijs, 24, explains: "The 'suited case' is a project which is inspired by the idea of people waiting during their trip.

"People often go and rest sitting on their suitcases, that is the starting point of this design, so I created a living room couch.

"When a familiar object from home is taken with you on a trip you feel much more at ease.

"And which object is more familiar then your own comfortable couch."

Erik, part of design duo Nieuwe Heren, says he is now looking for a company to bring his design to market.

Queen Elizabeth II meets Professor Stephen Hawking at a Buckingham Palace reception for representatives of the British scientific community. Buckingham Palace became a science lab as scores of scientists set up interactive experiments in the Queen's home. The royal residence was transformed with displays highlighting technical advances in everything from medicine and engineering to space exploration. More than 800 GCSE and A level students from across the country packed into the grand ballroom for the special Science Day.

    WEIRD STATUES AROUND THE WORLD

Don't lose your head: A business man has a novel way of spying on the workers of Ernst & Young in Los Angeles.

Smile: The people of Bratislava get papped by a sneaky snapper

Wall meet again: One particularly determined artist emerges from a wall in Montmartre, Paris.

Hello, Hello, Hello: Who's been tripped up here then?

Helping hand: Visitors to Venice rest their feet on an unusual perch.

Cheeky chap: A drain worker spends his time looking up ladies skirts in Old Town, Bratislava.

Fishy goings on: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a giant flying shark!

Reaching for the stars: Who needs stairs at the Rockefeller centre in New York when a giant steel pole will do.

Dancing dolphins: A young girl defies gravity to play with a dolphin near Tower Bridge in London.

To the point: The Swedes have a novel way of pointing visitors in the right direction of the royal palace.

Who'd have forked it: The tasty treats on offer in Switzerland demand some serious utensils.

Strange bedfellows: We've heard of falling out of bed before, but this is ridiculous.

Big spender: Someone is obviously ready for a serious shopping spree in Melbourne, Australia.

Cherrylicious: Breakfast has never looked so good at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis.

A hard day's night: One weary late night reveller finds a strange place to catch a little shuteye.

Making waves: A swimmer in London finds the grass a lot less polluted than the Thames.

That sinking feeling: A rather rude awakening...
