NEWS - Blizzard legt US-Ostküste lahm
Jan. 23, 2016 - Staten Island, NY, U.S - Wicked Jeep driver Marlo Dotti waits outside of Staten Island University Hospital to pick up medical staff getting off of their shifts during Winter Storm Jonas. During the blizzard, five Wicked Jeep drivers volunteered their time to pick up Staten Island residents and shuttle them safely to their destination. Late afternoon city buses ceased to run on the island, and a New York City travel ban was later enforceable by the NYPD. This lack of transportation stranded many residents of Staten Island who had taken the ferry home, or needed to get to Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry St. George terminal. People were forced to try and walk to their destination in the blizzard. Snowfall projections for Staten Island were approximately 12-18 inches, with winds gusting up to 50 miles an hour.
