Tribes in deep water: gold, guns and the Amazon's last frontier. Mining reserves – and plentiful fish – mean Brazil’s Javari Valley is increasingly at risk from armed poachers seeking to plunder its resources. So, too, are the tribes who call it hom

The Javari Valley reserve, which was set up in 1998, is home to 6,000 indigenous people from eight tribes, who share its dense, hilly forests and sinuous rivers with 16 isolated groups. Indigenous leaders say the “isolados”, as they are known, are more threatened than they have been in decades – with heavily polluting gold mining barges entering rivers to its east, cattle ranchers encroaching on its southern borders, and commercial fishing gangs venturing deep into its centre. Keeping tabs on their wellbeing is vital.

Haunting Photos Highlight The Ebola Crisis In Liberia
Kieran Kesner is a 23-year-old photojournalist who spent eight days covering the the plight of those infected with Ebola in Liberia.
His striking photographs capture the plight of the Liberian community, who can only hope and pray not to catch the devastating disease.
During his stay Kesner also photographed the burial teams and the MSF doctors (Doctors without Borders).
The current outbreak in West Africa is the largest and most severe outbreak of Ebola since the virus was first discovered in 1976.
Since the first case was noted in March 2014, there have been more cases and deaths than previous outbreaks combined; the diseases has already taken over 3,000 lives.
On August 27, 2014 Kesner boarded Delta airlines flight 2608 ready to begin his first international assignment.
"After four layovers, I arrived at the airport in Liberia. The plane came to a rough landing as it skidded to a stop on the decaying runway.

After washing his hands with chlorine, Kesner proceeded through the cacophony of customs where his passport was quickly stamped and he was sent on his way.

Kesner recalls when his taxi driver yelled out of the car window: "Why are they burning the ...

Photographer Visits Delhi Street Artists Fighting To Keep Their Homes
British photographer Mark Leaver travelled to India to document the lives and talents of Kathputli's famed street performers.
The Kathputli colony is a 40-year-old slum which houses an array of performers, from puppeteers and musicians to acrobats, folk singers and magicians.
However, developers are planning on replacing the slum that the performers live in with a 54-storey tower block, complete with a mall and luxury flats.
It is estimated that over 2800 families currently live in the slum, and soon they will have to pack up and leave.
Economic developments such as luxury flats reflect the country's growing economy, however some question whether it is at too much of a cultural cost.
Photographer Mark Leaver was keen to visit the Kathputli Colony for himself, and witness the colourful lifestyles of the performers before they are are forced to leave the area for good.
The Kathputli Colony is said to have the largest single concentration of street artists in the world.
The graduate photographer knew he wanted to work on a substantial body of work abroad.
He began to research charities that he could volunteer with, as he knew as a volunteer he would be given immediate access and local contacts.
"I began looking globally for these opportunities, and then refined my choices down to charities that could accommodate me as a photographer.
"In the end it was a throw up between India and Kenya. I decided to go with India after looking at the slum the charity operated in."
He explains that his project became very focused on the street performers who live in the slum.
"Initially I was just there to meet and get to know peop...
