    The first large scale showing of Futurism in Britain in thirty years. Futurist works from 1910-1914 as well as pieces from the Cubist and Orphist movements. Artists include Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carra, Luigi Russolo, Gino Severini and Giacomo Balla. The movement set out to modernise Italian art and social attitudes and its influence spread across Europe and beyond, revolutionising the response to the dynamism of modern life.

    Autochrome of three soldiers at a Military Encampment, Tidworth, Wiltshire, in 1911. Lionel had been a 2nd Lieutenant with the Royal Bucks Hussars since 1903. In 1911 he was with the Bucks Hussars and Royal Scots Greys in a training encampment at Windmill Hill near Tidworth. This image almost certainly dates from that time, A collection of historic images which signalled the dawn of colour photography have been discovered in a cupboard.{br}They include an informal portrait of King Edward VII in Highland costume, taken in September 1909. No earlier colour photograph of Edward has yet been found. The pictures, called autochromes, were taken by banker Lionel de Rothschild, an enthusiastic amateur photographer who experimented in perfecting the new process.     RARE EARLY COLOUR PHOTOS DISCOVERED IN CUPBOARD

    A collection of historic images which signalled the dawn of colour photography have been discovered in a cupboard.

    They include an informal portrait of King Edward VII in Highland costume, taken in September 1909. No earlier colour photograph of Edward has yet been found.

    The pictures, called autochromes, were taken by banker Lionel de Rothschild, an enthusiastic amateur photographer who experimented in perfecting the new process.

    The image of the King was taken on one of Lionel's regular excursions to Scotland for the autumn grouse season, at Tulchan in Strathspey, 15 miles from Balmoral. Eight months later, Edward died.
