  • Une chope qui pèse 9 kg à vide est sur le point de s'imposer sur le marché des boissons
    DUKAS_180452804_BES
Une chope qui pèse 9 kg à vide est sur le point de s'imposer sur le marché des boissons
Pictures must credit: Ocean Brass A heavyweight tankard that weighs 20 lbs / 9 kg empty is set to muscle in on the drinks market. The enormous receptacle which stands 162 mm tall, is machined from a solid 20 cm diameter bar of stainless steel, It has a substantial thermal mass so acts as a heat skink, to keep hot warm for longer. It can also be frozen before use to keep icy drinks cool. The tankard was inspired by dock side capstans that are used to coil ropes to keep ships moored. It also has a dovetail jointed brass handle and a bow shackle used on real capstans to pass rope through. The maker, US-based Ocean Brass,  specialises in making ship-inspired objects. For those who feel the tankard, which holds 590 ml of liquid, is too big to handle, there is a smaller 8 lbs / 3.6 kg version big enough to hold  just over 473 ml. Both are available from the company based in Boston, Massachusetts, from its website and Kickstarter. The biggest version is available to pre-order for $350 USD / €335 euros while the smaller version is $230 USD / €220 euros. Picture supplied by JLPPA

A heavyweight tankard that weighs 20 lbs / 9 kg empty is set to muscle in on the drinks market.
The enormous receptacle which stands 162 mm tall, is machined from a solid 20 cm diameter bar of stainless steel,
It has a substantial thermal mass so acts as a heat skink, to keep hot warm for longer.
