Joker and Gladiator star Joaquin Phoenix made a rare TV chat show appearance and apologised for causing a storm the last time he was in the same studio.
The 50-year-old Oscar winner was on the The Late Show With Stephen Colbert , 61, to promote new movie Eddington, set during the 2020m covid lockdown.
It was his first time in the same building since a 2009 interview with now retired talk show king Dave Letterman.
Phoenix's appearance with Letterman while promoting movie Two Lovers, was highly unusual and became a major topic of conversation.
He appeared disheveled, mumbled, and generally seemed out of sorts, leading many to believe he was experiencing a mental breakdown or was under the influence.
It was later revealed that this was an elaborate hoax, part of a mockumentary film called I'm Still Here, which depicted Phoenix quitting acting to become a rapper.
He made subsequent on-air apology to Letterman the next year.

Timothée Chalamet, la star de Dune, est passé à la télévision pour promouvoir sa nouvelle biographie de Bob Dylan.
Picture MUST credit: CBS Dune star Timothee Chalamet went on. TV to promote his new Bob Dylan biopic — and joked he had just hit puberty by growing a moustache. The film about the US singer songwriting icon, A Complete Unknown hits theatres before Christmas. He was appearing on the Stephen Colbert US talk show when the hist told him he was older than Dylan was in the four years from the beginning of 1962 to the end of 1965, covered in the film. The usually fresh-faced actor joked: “The first time I was on here, I hadn't hit puberty. “’So my voice has changed and now I'll probably play The Rock in my next movie.” He grew facial hair for the film he is currently making called Marty Supreme, which he's also producing. A Complete Unknown is based on a 2015 book called Dylan Goes Electric by writer Elijah Wald. Chalamet revealed the film has taken time to get to the screen after it was delayed by the covid pandemic. He was originally supposed to shoot in the summer of 2019. But he confessed the delay gave him more time to practise guitar as he plays and sings live throughout the movie. Chalamet even shared an exclusive video of him singing a Bob Dylan song while on the set of his first Dune movie. Picture supplied by JLPPA
