Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney is being honoured with a set of stamps that salute his career as a solo artist and with Wings following the Fab Four’s split.The UK’s Royal Mail has created a set of 12 special stamps being which were created with the help of McCartney ,78, and his team.The main stamp set features a selection of eight LPs which have defined Paul McCartney’s after the Beatles were finishedThey range from his first solo album McCartney released in 1970 through to his most recent No.1 album, McCartney III which was recorded and released during lockdown in 2020.The remaining four stamps, presented in a miniature sheet, feature photographs spanning three decades of Paul in the studio, recording for some of the albums featured in the main set.The eight albums features in the main set are McCartney from 1970, Ram from 1971, Venus and Mars issued in 1975, McCartney II from 1980, Tug of War released in 1982, Flaming Pie from 1997, 2018’s Egypt Station and McCartney III, 2020.A spokesperson said:” Royal Mail collaborated closely with Paul and his team at MPL Communications Ltd. on the collection – with Paul having personal involvement in the images used and the wider product range created for the issue.“He is an icon of 20th and 21st century popular music. “
