As president of the SAG, he reacted to the Communism in the film industry debate, by switching from liberal to conservative. Governor of California, 1966-1974, two terms. 40th President of the United States (1981-89) (Republican). Died June 5, 2004, Bel-Air, California.

Became the 40th President of the United States (1981-89) as a Republican. Died June 5, 2004 in Bel-Air, California.

Governor of California, 1966-1974, two terms. 40th President of the United States (1981-89) (Republican). Died June 5, 2004, Bel-Air, California.

    RONALD WILSON REAGAN (Feb. 6, 1911 - June 5, 2004) the 40th President of the U.S. Nicknamed 'The Great Communicator' and 'Dutch', Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois, and died of pneumonia at his Bel Air home. Married twice, to actress Jane Wyman (Jan. 26, 1940 - 1948, divorced) and to Nancy Davis (March 4, 1952-2004). He began his career as a sports announcer on radio, then moved to Hollywood and made 50 movies and became a movie star. Was Governor of California (1966-75), and US President (1980-88). A conservative Republican, he advocated lower taxes and higher defense spending, and aggressively challenged the Soviet Union. Reagan suffered since 1994 from Alzheimer's Disease, a degenerative disorder that affects the brain causing memory loss & dementia.
