The Quirky Wildlife of Joanne Williams
A brightly-coloured bird admiring itself in a wing mirror, a squirrel flat out asleep on a bench and a monkey giving the finger. There is even a small bird helping a zebra with personal hygiene.
These are some of the hilarious sights wildlife photographer Joanne Williams has seen through her viewfinder in the last two decades.
The Florida-based photographer has now collected together some of her favourite images in preparation for not one, but two books showcasing her work.
This gallery of the humourous side of Joanne's photography is the result of an 18-year career that has seen her lead tours to some of the planet's most exotic places - ranging from the wetlands of Brazil to the Galapagos Islands, as well as a number of countries in Africa.
Her work is notable for its ability to capture almost human behavioural traits in members of the animal kingdom - often noticing similarities with people she knows or famous personalities.
Joanne explains: "Very often I shoot spontaneously and quickly with little fore-thought, as most of the time my subjects move at great speed and the action would be over if I stopped to think why or if I should I take the shot.
"But there is one common thread in a lot of my work, which is my deliberate act of 'humanising' much of what I see and shoot, usually with a great deal of humour associated with the whole scene. I often relate to whatever act or action is going on within the confines of that image.
"I often recognise the conduct of some wildlife critter as similar to that of a relative, friend, or business associate-even a politician or movie star! Or a famous quotation will often come to mind when I see a certain act being performed.
"An example is when I saw the beautiful Green-headed Tan...

This will be at the top of your cat's Christmas list...
Cats now get to have their sweet revenge on dogs thanks to a pooch-shaped scratching post.
Netherlands-based designer Erik Stehmann created the dog-shaped scratching post, which is called DOG, to allow cats to vent their frustration on their natural enemy.
In the photos a kitten can be seen thoroughly enjoying attacking the dog scratching post.
The feline can also be seen making the most of the situation by taking the rare opportunity of sitting on a dog's shoulders.

Crocodile keeper allows a visitor to handle a baby crocodile
Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park in Broome, Australia - Sep 2015
*Full story: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/rhhn
With its jaws gaping wide, this fearsome croc swallows a chicken carcass with one snap. Elsewhere, similar reptiles lurk in the algae covered water, floating like innocent looking logs, waiting to pounce on any unsuspecting prey. Welcome to feeding time at the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park in Broome, Australia. And fortunately for the visitors to the attraction the only thing the crocs get their jaws around are the chicken and fish carcasses they are fed by keepers. The saltwater crocodile is the world's largest reptile and a native of the northern coastal areas of Australia and Southeast Asia. They live in mangrove-lined tidal rivers, creeks, billabongs and swamps and sometimes in the sea. The 'Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park' was created by its namesake in 1983 as a Crocodile research centre.

'Say Cheep': Bird Photo Booth For Wildlife Enthusiasts
A bird feeder allows wildlife enthusiasts to watch, photograph and even talk to their feathered friends.
Dubbed the Bird Photo Booth, the invention was constructed by Bryson Lovett, who captured these incredibly vivid stills from live footage of birds, which can be streamed to mobile phones and enable a lively FaceTime exchange with the viewer.
The gadget made from wood and aircraft-grade aluminium uses motion-sensing technology to get a real bird's eye view and works by simply placing your iPhone, Android or GoPro camera into Bird Photo Booth.
All the bird photos and videos taken are saved directly to the connected device, which allows bird lovers to share their images with other enthusiasts online.
American inventor Bryson said: "I found that looking though a lens from afar really didn't allow me to truly interact and enjoy the expressions, personalities, behaviours and true beauty of wild birds up close as I desired. This curiosity and desire for the ultimate close up interaction with wild birds lead me to develop Bird Photo Booth.
"I want to bring people face to face with the birds and creatures in our backyards, to discover their intelligence, animated personalities and unique beauty in a fun, new interactive way that inspires our creativity and imaginations."
Wildlife enthusiasts in the UK can order the invention for around GBP 100.

A Peek Inside Google's London Headquarters
It features a secret garden, 'Granny flat' interiors and an allotment - welcome to Google's new London headquarters.
The 160,000 sq ft hub features cutting-edge design that offers a quirky take on the traditional office.
Occupying half of the ultra-modern Central Saint Giles development in Covent Garden over five floors, renowned interior designers PENSON were given the task of creating a vibrant workspace.
The result is amazing variation of work and lounging space which finds room for 1,250 non-traditional desks.
A space called Granny's Flat is furnished with chintzy chairs and fittings that wouldn't look out of place in an elderly relative's lounge, while the Lala Library hosts a giant semi-circle white sofa adorned with pillows and surrounded by arty and inspirational books.
Surreal workspaces have tongue-in-cheek names such as the Velourmptious snug, a green, padded homage to the traditional British pub, and Snug-lushness, a garish flower-print padded bench seat.
An area dubbed the Town Hall allows seating for 200 people and features velvet curtains, exposed ceilings and a video wall, while the Market Square is a rustic cafeteria area.
For active staff members there is a gym and dance studio, a 'bikedry' for cycling gear storage and a shower block for those sweaty from the morning workout, cycle or commute.
For those really wanting to escape the office, a 'Hedge Your Bets' secret garden on the roof terrace affords stunning views of London surrounded by grass and foliage - all with wi-fi connection for laptop work.
Eco considerations are at the forefront of design with a high content of reclaimed or recycled materials employed and the use of water-based products and timber floor boards with Eco plywood perimeters.

Europe's Grand Canyon - Exploring the Verdon Gorge.
Outdoor sports enthusiasts are spoiled for choice among the breath-taking landscapes of France's Verdon Gorge. Although the base of the gorge was only explored for the first time a century ago, today the Verdon is a major centre for canoeing and canyoning, rock climbing and rafting, wildlife watching, and local and long-distance walks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Visitors to France's break-taking Verdon Gorge, one of the greatest geological marvels of Europe, need a head for heights. From the popular vantage point of the Escalès belvedere, along the eponymously-named Route des Crêtes, 300-metre vertical cliffs plunge down into the chasm of the Verdon River and the narrow passage known as Samson's Corridor. To the north lie stunning panoramas of the Alpine peaks, while the Verdon itself snakes southwards, through rock-cut passages, to the plains and undulating hills of Provence beyond.
The Route des Crêtes is a meeting point for Europe's top rock climbers attracted by dozens of climbs criss-crossing the impressive slabs of vertical rock which are also training grounds for local firemen and outward bound enthusiasts. At river level, other adrenalin-rush sports include canoeing and canyoning, white water rafting and aquarando, a combination of river walking, rock scrambling and floating downstream.
As well as the gorge the Verdon area comprises five artificial lakes, dammed after the Second World War to provide hydro electricity. Largest of the lakes is Sainte Croix, a vast exp...

BRITAIN'S FIRST GAY SURROGATE FATHERS TEN YEARS ON
These exclusive pictures show Britain's first gay surrogate fathers on a day trip to Colchester Zoo with their three children, ten years after they made history.
Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, Britain's first gay fathers, sparked outrage when they used donated eggs and surrogate mothers in the USA to have their twins Aspen and Saffron (now nine-years-old) and Orlando (now five).
The pair from Danbury in Essex battled the American authorities to become the first gay couple to have both their names on their children's birth certificates - they celebrate the twins' tenth birthday in December this year.
To add to their joy, the couple are now expecting a second set of twins from a US donor and surrogate next year - they also know that they will be two boys.
The happy Drewitt-Barlow clan were at Essex's Colchester Zoo with their kids and new male nanny, Neil Kelly, as well as Barrie's young nephew Sam.
The couple met Kelly a few years ago when he was working as a cruise director on an Easycruise holiday they went on - he has been working for them for around 6 months.
