Italian luxury goods maker Montegrappa has a monster new offering for collectors — a pen that pays tribute to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein horror story.

And the writing instrument, in fountain and rollerball options, comes packaged in a Dr Frankenstein-style lab with the pan strapped to a table.

The limited-edition writing creation is dedicated to the 1931 Universal Pictures adaptation of English author Shelley’s 1816 novel Frankenstein, panned when she was aged just 18.

It was first published two years later.

A Montegrappa spokesperson said it was inspired by the” iconic, mad-scientist aesthetic of Universal’s Frankenstein.”

Each set, called Frankenstein L.E. , is handcrafted from antiqued brass to emulate Victorian laboratory equipment with dark ruthenium electroplating.
