P.O.W'S STAMP , IN KING'S COLLECTION TO BE SHOWN IN LONDON
A Stamp, designed and drawn by a Hong Kong postal official while a prisoner in Japanese hands, and now included in the King's collection, is among many valuable exhibits to be shown at the international Stamp exhibition opening at Grosvenor house, London, on may 6.
The stamp was designed by Mr.W.E. Jones during internment in Stanley camp. One slight alteration was made in the design - the King was shown in profile instead of full face. over half a million stamps, valued at two and a half million pounds, are to be shown in the exhibition.
PICTURE SHOWS:- The altered design, showing the King in profile, for the 1945 victory issue.
