DREW BARRYMORE attending the Prop 8 Protest March in West Hollywood
West Hollywood, 2009-5-26 / Many celebs like DREW BARRYMORE, KELLY OSBOURNE and PEREZ HILTON attend a Prop 8 Protest March in West Hollywood after the California Supreme Court failed to overturn the controversial proposition. Thousands of supporters of same-sex marriage march from West Hollywood to Hollywood following the California Supreme Court ruling to uphold Proposition 8. The court voted 6-1 to uphold Proposition 8, which makes it illegal for same-sex couples to marry in the state of California, although the more than 18,000 same-sex couples that wed before Prop 8 was voted in will still be legally married. The marriage rights of Californians now fall into three categories. Heterosexual couples have access to all rights, responsibilities - and the name - of marriage. Gays and lesbians who were married between May 15 and Nov. 4 can remain so - but cannot remarry in the event of death or divorce. And all other gays and lesbians are prohibited by law from marrying the partner of their choice.
