Winston Churchill and his wife - who are on holiday here - go swimming at the Venice Lido, Venice, Italy. Mrs Churchill wears a full length costume, while her husband sports red swimming trunks.
Mr Churchill objected to photographers picturing him in his red trunks, and had guards seize their films. At one point the ex-Premier, who left the French Riviera because it was too noisy, splashed water at cameramen as they approached him in a boat.
