Anniverary of the first ascent of Mount Everest
File image dated 24/09/2007 of the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal. The 29th May is the anniversary of the first ascent of the mountain by a British expedition led by Col John Hunt. Climbers Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary reached the summit on the 29th May 1953. News of their achievement arrived on the day Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in the same year.
