Meghan Markle was accused of breaking an agreement made with the late Queen Elizabeth after a podcast revealed she is calling herself “Her Royal Highness.”
Show host, cosmetics entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, revealed last year the Duchess of Sussex, 43, sent her a food gift box of ice cream and strawberry sauce.
Showing a photo of the present, a card with it said: “With Compliments of H.R.H The Duchess of Sussex.”
Meghan and husband Prince Harry ,40 , agreed five years ago when they left Britain for their new life in Canada and then the USA not to use the HRH title for commercial purposes.
In a statement at the time Buckingham Palace said: “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.'
HRH, an abbreviation of His/Her Royal Highness, is used as part of the title of some members of the royal family.
Royal author Ingrid Seward told the UK’s Sun newspaper: "I think if her late mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth was still around she would be highly offended, as she was very sensitive about that.
"She wouldn't think it was the correct form and remember she removed the HRH titles from both Diana and Sarah Ferguson.”

OPS: The basket of icecream sent to Jamie Kern Lima with the note referring to Meghan as " HRH Ther Dichess of Sussex."
It was shown on the podcast.

Meghan Markle has appeared in her first ever podcast interview.
The casually dressed Duchess of Sussex, 43, sat down with podcast host and the founder of IT Cosmetics, Jamie Kern Lima.
During the interview, Meghan was read comments from her husband Prince Harry, who had told various press outlets how “proud” he was of his wife.
Having not heard the comments before, a delighted Meghan said 'that's really nice', before going on to reminisce about their time together.
She said: 'You have to imagine, at the beginning it's all butterflies - but then we immediately went into the trenches together.
“So now seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way.
“And that's why I feel like it's more of a honeymoon period for us now.”
She said Harry would be married “forever’” and called him “ a fox” because he is “very very handsome.”
She also welled up and fought back tears as she spoke of her children, Archie, five and Lilibet, three,
She said she wanted to be really good at motherhood.
Meghan said she was inspired by a friend who set up secret emails for her children to send them pictures and letters when they're older.
