The Art of the Elysium Second Annual Black Tie Charity Gala, Los Angeles, America - 10 Jan 2009
With the party season in full swing the stars were out for The Art of Elysium's 2nd Annual Heaven Gala in Los Angeles last night. The star-studded affair saw celebs such as Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Kate Bosworth and Gerard Butler all take to the red carpet for the charitable cause. The heaven and hell themed evening, which was sponsored by Vogue and Cartier, kicked off at St. Vibiana cathedral. Guests, including Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow, Elijah Wood and Aaron Eckhart, were later urged to "go to hell," by crossing the street to Edison, a subterranean nightclub done up to resemble the Underworld. The Art of Elysium seeks to encourage actors, artists and musicians to volunteer their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visit the New Zealand Giant Rugby Ball, London, Britain - 25 November 2008
The Queen, wearing a feather shaped brooch akin to the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team logo, has met the All Blacks rugby team while visiting a giant inflatable rugby ball being used to promote New Zealand tourism. She and the Duke of Edinburgh were treated to a traditional Maori welcome as they arrived at the 25-metre ball, which has been installed in Potters Field near London Bridge. The ball is designed to give visitors a taste of what they can expect when they travel to New Zealand and aims to showcase the country's creative talent, landscape and technology. It also promotes the 2011 Rugby World Cup, which will be held in New Zealand. During their visit the royal couple were taken on a "virtual visit" of New Zealand by viewing a 10-minute audio-visual show that is projected onto the walls inside the ball.
