Support increases for Manchester bus driver sacked for being ‘too short’ More than 13,000 sign petition backing Tracey Scholes, who was dismissed after 34 years of service.
Bus driver Tracey Scholes from Heywood, Greater Manchester, the first woman hired in Manchester's bus depot 34 years ago, who has effectively been designed out of her job. She's got a final appeal on 11 February against the bus company who brought in new buses that are impossible to drive if you are a short woman. Scholes - who is 5ft - was given notice after the Go North West repositioned its wing mirrors in such a way that she could no longer use them at the same time as reaching the pedals.
