'Mini Monet' Takes Art World By Storm
A seven-year-old 'mini Monet' has taken the art world by storm - selling his latest collection of paintings for GBP 150,000 in just 30 minutes.
The sale of schoolboy Kieron Williamson's work attracted buyers and bids from all over the world, including New York and South Africa.
Some fans even went to the extreme of camping outside the gallery in the art prodigy's home town of Holt, Norfolk, where his work was to be exhibited.
The paintings in Kieron's latest collection, which is his third, featured local Norfolk landscapes and coastal scenes.
It also included views of City Temple in Holborn, Central London, and even a painting of Hong Kong.
Kieron comments: "I like landscapes as they've got the big Norfolk skies in them and not too many hills or mountains".
One of the biggest sellers at the sale was a 20in by 30in oil painting called 'Sunrise at Morston', which went for GBP 7,995.
Meanwhile, a 19in by 25in pastel called 'Marsh at Sunset' fetched GBP 6,750.
Even the cheapest art work sold for GBP 1,825.
Kieron paints up to six paintings a week and there currently around 700 people on a waiting list for an original.
The youngster first started painting two years ago after he was inspired by boats in dock during a family holiday to Cornwall.
His work first came on the market last summer when 19 of his paintings were sold for GBP 14,000 in a sealed-bid auction.
At his second exhibition in November 2009 another 16 of his works were sold for GBP 17,000 in just 14 minutes.
Gallery owner Adrian Hill said: "Kieron has probably become one of the most collectable artists worldwide".
Kieron's parents plan to buy him a house with his earnings and invest the rest for him until he is 25.

Chaos Point, Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Collection performance Art Catwalk Show, Banqueting House, Whitehall, London, Britain - 18 Nov 2008
Fashion and art collided last night at a special Vivienne Westwood fashion show. 'Chaos Point: Vivienne Westwood Gold Label AW 08/09' saw the maverick fashion icon join forces with Mark Stephenson of London Musici. Together they created a spectacular catwalk show involving performance artists and a live showpiece by the London Musici orchestra. Held at the Banqueting House at Whitehall Palace, the event attracted the likes of Eva Herzigova, Claudia Schiffer, who was wearing vintage Westwood, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Tracey Emin and Jasmine Guinness. Also putting in an appearance was Jerry Hall, accompanied by red lipstick wearing daughters Georgia May Jagger and Elizabeth Jagger. One of the evening's hosts was Nigella Lawson, who ensured that all eyes were on her by wearing a traffic stopping, cleavage enhancing, scarlet Westwood gown. At the event Westwood showed her Gold Label Collection, to the accompaniment of solo violinist Chalie Siem and dancers Fernando Montano and Romany Pajdak from the Royal Ballet.

A new Sea Life London attraction will host 5,000 jellyfish, including some up to half a metre in diameter and some whose tentacles reach 30 metres. Expert "jellyologists" have spent the past year breeding the creatures in the basement of the South Bank attraction. When it opens in the County Hall venue on April 1, there will be six species to admire including the common, harmless moon jellyfish; the Cassiopea or sunbather which grows its own algae; and the Atlantic sea nettle which must be handled by experts wearing shoulder-length rubber gloves to protect them from their "highly unpleasant" sting. In May the lion’s mane jellyfish, the world’s largest known species with tentacles up to 30 metres long, will arrive. Pictured : Evening Standard Journalist Lizzie Edmonds at the Exhibition.
