  • Annual Amarnath Yatra Pilgrimage In Indian Kashmir
    DUKAS_186610970_NUR
Annual Amarnath Yatra Pilgrimage In Indian Kashmir
Hindu pilgrims make their way on foot, ride horses, and are carried by porters along a mountain path during their pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Amarnath, near Baltal, east of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on July 3, 2025. Amarnath Yatra begins under an unprecedented security blanket after a terror attack in Pahalgam kills 25 tourists and a local pony handler. In response, the government deploys additional troops along the pilgrimage routes and cancels all helicopter services this year. The 45-day Himalayan pilgrimage to the sacred Shiva shrine takes place amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions following 'Operation Sindoor' and cross-border shelling, raising safety concerns for thousands of pilgrims. This photo series captures the vibrant arrival of summer in Marseille. From the crowded Catalans beach near the Old Port, with its food trucks, beach volleyball courts, and mix of youth and elderly sunbathers, to the picturesque Vallon des Auffes—an old Genoese fishing port turned social hotspot. The images also showcase the sandy Plage des Prophetes, full of activity, and the wild, rocky landscapes of Les Goudes at the city's edge. The images also showcase the sandy Plage des Prophetes, full of activity, and the wild, rocky landscapes of Les Goudes at the city's edge. Fans of movie monster Godzilla can now enjoy a smashing time — hammering in nails with a hammer shaped like the creature’s foot.
A company in Japan has created the tool using a scan from a model foot used in a 2001 Japanese language only Godzilla movie, Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
The ironworks firm, called Castem, created the hammer head in effect detail using a method called “lost-wax casting”
A wax model of the desired object is created with 3D printing.
This wax model is then encased in a mould material, such as ceramic slurry, forming a hardened shell.
Once hardened, the wax model is melted away leaving a void in the shape of the original model.
Molten metal is poured into the mould created from a wax model.
It was developed for reproducing complex shapes in metal so even the finest details of the foot’s sole are faithfully rendered.
The hammer head is made of iron with a blackened finish and weighs 550 grams.
A spokesperson said: “Godzilla's feet have crushed countless buildings and structures.
“You can recreate that scene by pounding in a nail with the Godzilla hammer.”
The unique tool can be purchased outside of Japan by international customers on the Castem eBay shop for $70.65 USD / €63 euros.

Researchers have developed a way to control smartphone apps — with their feet.
The idea is that different length strides, dragging a heel or tapping a toe for example can all help navigate options on a smartphone.
The study, from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, was the idea of computer science professor Daniel Vogel.
He was frustrated by having to stop and use his phone with cold fingers while walking to get coffee.
That got him wondering if there could be a way to place orders without pausing.
This led to a study where volunteers tested 22 different foot motions, rating them on ease of movement, compatibility with walking, and social acceptability.
The researchers used an augmented reality headset to detect specific gait patterns.
The idea is that you can navigate apps by altering your footfall, turning your foot one way or the other as you walk.
Prof Vogel said extreme movements like dance steps or a jump would likely be easy for a system to recognise.
But he added that these might be harder to perform and would deviate too far from normal walking for people to feel comfortable doing them in public.

OPS: A researcher in an augmented reality headset uses different foot movements to open an Uber EATS smartphone app , elect a drink and then pay for it.
