July 24, 2018 - Col du Portillon, France: Quick Step - Floors; Alaphilippe, Julian. Julian Alaphilippe took victory on stage 16 of the Tour de France after Adam Yates crashed while leading on the descent into Bagneres-de-Luchon. Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) had crested the summt of the Col du Portillon with a lead of 22 seconds over Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors) after attacking the remnants of the breakaway three kilometres from the summit. But on the long descent into town he went down on a corner, 6.5 kilometres from the finish line, and Alaphilippe zipped by to take his second stage win of this Tour. Peter Sagan retained the Green jersey for best rider on points, Alaphilippe retained polka dot jersey bfor best climber, PIERRE ROGER LATOUR retained white jersey for best young rider and Philippe Gilbert who had a dramatic fall in a mdonhill was awarded the prize for combativity. July 19, 2018 - L' Alpe d' Huez, France: Team Sky rider Geraint Thomas crosses the finish line. Geraint Thomas sprinted away from Sky teammate Chris Froome to win the climb on Alpe d'Huez while wearing the leader's yellow jersey in the Tour de France. Tom Dumoulin crossed second, two seconds behind, and Romain Bardet was third, three seconds back. Froome finished fourth, four seconds behind Thomas. Thomas extended his lead over Froome in the overall standings to 1 minute, 39 seconds. Dumoulin was third overall, 1:50 behind. Vincenzo Nibali recovered from a crash in the final kilometres to finish seventh in the stage. The Italian was fourth overall, 2:37 back. Peter Sagan retained the green jersey for leader on points, Julian Alaphilippe retained the polka dot jersey for best mountain climber and Pierre Roger Latour retained the white jersey for best young rider.
