Cannabis farm uncovered by police run by Breaking Bad obsessed police constable Daniel Aimson, 36, who has been jailed for six years for masterminding a drug trafficking ring after becoming hooked on the TV crime drama.
Daniel Aimson, policeman jailed for drug crimes at Manchester Crown Court, UK - 20 Dec 2017
Aimson was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court after copying storylines from the hit TV show to grow two cannabis farms in Manchester. In the American show, chemistry teacher Walter Ehite sets up a crystal meth drug trafficking operation to fund his cancer treatment. Aimson began growing cannabis after being injured in three road accidents and confined to a wheelchair while serving with the Greater Manchester Police. He claimed he suffered post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of the crashes and became resentful how colleagues started treating him. He set up factories in residential properties and installed specialist equipment to grow cannabis. Police found 96 plants after a tip-off at one property and 70 at the other during raids in the summer of 2016. Aimson, who regularly wore a "Heisenberg" T-shirt featuring the face of the lead Breaking Bad character, was said to have "revelled" in his secret double life as a police officer and a drug dealer.
